Hi all,
well here we are again and I have no idea how to do this one. Well, actually I do - you get a couple of 40K dark Eldar jetbikes, get the curved, spiky fins off them, fix them to a base, and Eldrad's your uncle. Sadly, I polished off my DE sprue bits ages ago, so I'll have to come up with something else.
'Wings' off Phantom titans come to mind, but this would be an $$$ solution, so that's no.2 disposed of.
Hmmmm - must think this one out carefully. I'll try to avoid using palm trees and WH40K Chaos Space Marines this time round...  :p

errmm - don't hold on to that thought!  :{

Parts list:
- 1 x 40mm square base (alternatively, a 50mm square base or one of the large WH40K round bases)
- a few tree trunks from the WH40K jungle trees sprue
- a largish plastic wheel or gear wheel from any scrapped stuff - printers are ideal.
- a couple of Epic Eldar troops of any type.
- flock or static grass; add pepper or kitty litter to taste.

A question of economics: if you get an old base, or even use a piece of scrap plastic, and omit the Eldar, or get a few old extras not needed for anything else; and assuming the wheel comes for free, the total cost is the cost of the jungle tree set, which costs ?3.00 (unfortunately, temporarily out of stock). This compares well to the Avatar and court and wraithgate set, which costs ?8.00 - at least, if you don't need said Avatar and court! A cheaper way would find an alternative to the tree trunks - scrap Eldar or Dark Eldar bits could work, possibly better.

Construction:
1 - Sand the wheel or gear wheel flat from one side.
2 - Glue it onto the base.
3 - Glue a few tree trunks or equivalent around it, equally spaced.
4 - Undercoat and paint - you may wish to add pepper and litter (or sand) before doing so.
5 - Add any further pepper, litter, sand as well as flock or static grass.
6 - Paint a couple of troops and glue in place.
7 - Matt varnish all over.

That's it - done!
Pics of my own design later.
Cheers all,
John  :-:
