I have been thinking about how to scratch build a chaos altar for the Lost & Damned for some time. ?After I thought about it for a while I decided that some arcane altar with wheels that is pulled by chaos spawns/beasts would look cool. ?A good basis for what I had in mind would be the Warmaster Empire War Altar. ?I got one and it was the size I wanted since the Chaos Altar is a WE DC3. Now the altar is going to be an altar of Slaanesh. ?I have a number of Slaanesh Globe pieces from Man O War that I have wanted to use and one would work perfectly. ?Ok one hard to get piece, but it works so well and I have 6 of them in my bits box. ?But there are a number of substitutes that could be used. ?So here is my list of bits so far.

1 x Warmaster Empire War Altar
1 x Warmaster Chaos Spawn
2 x 40k Chaos Marine Backpacks (current ones)
1 x Man O War Slaanesh Hellship Dome
Guitar string
Plasticard
Epic Arch Heretic, Sanctioned Psyker, Cultist and Beastman
2 x grass pieces from LotR Riders of Rohan

That's about it.

So I should be able to finish this by the deadline.

Sounds intriguing! Looking forward to seeing this one - poor old Hellship though (I'm a Man O'War fan). :D

If it is any comfort to you. ?I didn't sacrifice the Hellship. ?The bits were from the "old glory days" of being able to bit order specialist game stuff. ?Well actually anything smaller than 28mm. ?I think you can still be bits for Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Mordheim and Inquisitor.

A small update.  I have most all the altar finished.  I just need to add some small bits of green stuff and glue on the Arch Heretic with supporting cultists/mutants.  It is coming along pretty good.  I hope to start painting on it this weekend.

Must have missed this post - yes, I am relieved... I love those old ships, and am naive enough to still hope they'll at least include MoW with Warmaster some day. Well, almost naive enough...   :(  :(

Anyway - echoing Warmaster, I too am looking forward to this one (and - note to self - must finish my Tzeentchian one too.)  :D

Well I finished assembling my Lost & Damned Altar. ?:D
Here it is in all it's unpainted glory. ?I am trying to break myself of not wanting to post unpainted items. ?But projects just come across better when painted. ?Anyhow, I have primed it now and hope to have it painted by the dealine of next Sunday. ?I did change a few items used for the construction in my first post. ?It now reflects what was actually used. ?I'll post later with my instructions on how it was built. ?Enjoy!
