Since my SM army was my first, I almost named this "Back to the Future", but there's way too many movie-themed thread titles out there :P
These guys have been sitting in cold storage for a while, mainly because I have the reverse-midas touch when it comes to playing space marines... they just don't handle my attrition style of play I guess. Yeah... it's the army's fault, certainly not the player's.

Anyhoo, I've gotten ahold of some new Blood Angels-related and other space marine stuff, so they're back on the front burner. Unfortunately, even the Lamenters' storage is a bit ghetto:

Highlights. Vinnie the vindicator, soon to be joined by vincent, vincenzo, and vince:

Termies, scouts, and Devs:

Besides losing a crap-ton of games, old(er) hands might remember them exiting from early voting during epicomp a few years back :'( so they may look familiar. A 40K kid at our LGS called them "Emo Marines" one time... I wanted to punch him in the junk for that.

More to come.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you had those painted up already. I can't wait to see the new additions ;)

Love the vindicator boy-band. Nice mellow yellow marine force.

Those are hunters - whirlwinds with one rocket pod replaced by some BFG bits and some electronic-looking sites in the middle. I have one metal whirlwind that was too much of a pain to hack apart, so that's a double-barreled hunter...

I'll have some updates soon I think, and the hunters will get special attention.

The biggest addition to my Lamenters' army: Lunch Boxes from the Monkeyforge. These things are great.

As you can see, I went a little overboard in purchasing. But hey, lots of moody, bloodthirsty superhumans need to get into combat fast:

As promised, closeups of the hunters (whirlwinds with one missile pod replaced by BFG bits, and one metal whirlwind):

Really like all the little armour detals her CP, how do you do your check patterns? Or ar they transfers?

Do they suffer from the bad luck they're famous for?

Thanks, CS. The T-hawk, termies, and land raider check patterns are hand-painted, which is a not-so-fun process of trial and error. Usually I start with a layer of gray, then start with the black checks, then white. Then, touch up the black, add another layer of white, touch up black, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum infinito ad hoc proctor hoc :P I tried a paint pen for the T-hawks, but the finest point available ended up being too thick, not to mention having a gloss finish.

The Storm Ravens have decals from a 40K ork decal sheet.

On the army's luck. They have suffered in the past from poor dice rolling, but the general must take some blame as well; I took Dave's Subjugators one time and didn't have much success with them either. Hopefully after all this new work I can get them to give a good account of themselves.

Like a lot of attention-starved ladies with daddy issues, they are pole dancing :P I drilled a hole right below the turret and they're sitting atop brass rod.
