...is nothing compared to the art of losing and whining! :p

My (not so) humble person combines the worst luck with the worst tactical skill. ?:{ I have several times managed to miss a Gargant completely with 3 Volcano cannons. In NetEpic terms this means I missed with 3 shots, which hit on 2+ on d6...

And I have yet to win a game of Combat Mission II against a friend of mine who only started playeing wargames recently.

Maybe I should start SoTB ( =School of Tactical Blundering) :blues:

The winner on the battlefield is usually the commander that does not do the most things right but the Least things wrong !  And Napoleon said something like, "A General can be anything, but he has to be lucky !"   :;):

Hi!

Legion4 is right. So right I make all my plans according to, not if "x" things goes RIGHT, but what will I do when "x" thing goes WRONG. I also base my strategies on poor rolling performance, so as not to depend on roliing high to make a plan work. I assume the absolute worse will happen during a game to me and plan accordingly. I find that your "win-lose" ratio can be kept fairly high with such an approach, becasue you get used to making your battle plan work DESPITE not having luck and if luck is with you, you learn to exploit it fully.

Don't make your plans (if you have a plan) based on your ability to roll the dice, but on sound judgement based on your mission and forces available for that mission. ?Or as I've seen many players do, just move around the board providing targets for your opponent, ignoring the principles of war and in the end wonder why you got your butt handed to you ! ? ?But have a good time, anyway ... ?:;):

Hi!

sci-fantasy games like 40k, sometimes have a lot to do with the "weird" tactics people use. It seems lost on them that charging into the open with the enemy firing automatic weapons at you is not a bright idea.

Ironically those who play other games with more "realistic" results say they "suck" because self same tactics dont work.

It all depends on what floats your boat....

You left out the part of the story where you used loaded dice..... }:)

I mainly missed out the part that it was against an inexperienced opponent who has an inability to adapt to the changing state of the battlefield.

He has a plan at the beginning of the game and sticks to it, never changing it. Normally this plan is 'deploy in a line and shoot the nearest target'.

So whilst it is legendary - I think anyone could achieve simular results with a bit of common sense and some good luck. VOID is far more tactical than 40k, and this shows in the results.

Paraptroops and Rangers don't have lightsabers and can't be drawn to the dark side....Unless they really want to/try.  }:)

Besides, I'd go for Space Marines and Terminators any day!

Cheers

Hi!

Well, beleive it or not guys I like to LOSE. Why? When I win I dont learn much, I dont analyze the game and dont obtain new information for my next game.

When I lose, I spend almost every second between the loss and the next game (sometimes months away) thinking what when wrong and how to remedy it. It a very fun thing for me.

Call me wierd.... :p
