Hi. Well, I have decided to put together a Slaanesh Marine/Chaos force for Epic. The only problem is that I dont know about the colours. I dont like the purple of the Emperors Children, and I started with the pastel pink and black of John Blanches work. It would be good to go pastel and black, but whatever colour I choose has to look good for both the troops and the vehicles (including titans, etc). Anyone with any ideas? Thanks.

I know its the fluff of the force, but I couldn't bring myself to paint anything bright pink.  I think I would go for a pastel light blue type colour.  Keeping the vibrant scheme, without being so....girlie.  :;):

True. I cant quite imagine a battlefield of pink Land Raiders! I want two contrasting colours, and I may go for a Warlock purple and lighter, contratsed with black. A light purple may well fit in well with the theme and look pretty cool...

Go for pink and black, it fits the fluff and just suits the extreme nature of the Emperors Children, bearing in mind that I always thought that it looked good on them. Looks kinda gothic and twisted at the same time as looking well... like heavily armoured fluffy care bears with large guns.

Believe it or not, I would really like to do Slaanesh as pink and black. The trouble is, whenever I think of this I see pink Land Raiders... then little blue flowers start appearing on them and then all is lost.

I like the Marines in this colour, but not the armour.

I'd like to do pink and a sky blue. I'd proposely do a scheme like that to a Land Raider, dang it, now I've got ideas...

Do the land raiders as mainly black and pink, but with menacing reds and purples mixed in there, cover them with conversions and corpses and then even if 'ickle blue flowers' start appearing... well then they are even more scary.

Plus, imagine your opponents face when he gets ripped apart by the 'cutsy' marines :).

Gives you the opportunity for some very twisted marines.

Have you tried using bleached bone with a touch of red (experiment by adding different quantities) added instead of pure pink? I found this to be very effective when used alonside black. If you are an old timer, you might remember the old Keeper of Secrets flesh was painted like this. Deep shading or dark outlines can also help tone things down a bit, and define areas of light pastal colour better.

The old Reaver and Warlord titans had less flat panels and more exposed machine parts, so most of the model could be painted with metallics. The latest models are almost completely done in company colours, so you might try looking at areas that you can paint up as bare metal to break up the pastals.

Tanks like Land raiders can mostly be painted black, with only the odd side panel and hatch picked out in pastel. Also, large areas can have Slaanesh signs in black on them.

I faced the same problem years ago when I painted up a small force, but the above techniques helped keep things looking good and to scale.

Hope this helps.  :)

Not a bad idea. Yes, I remember the old keepers colours, red ink with white, if I remember. I like the idea of black tanks for the troops though. I will need to think about how this could work. Thanks.

Dont let your choices be limited, think what you want them to look like then add a Slaanesh edge to it.
There are many pastel colours not just pink-why not experiment with greens or yellows, for land raiders you could go black (with a grey highlight and black wash) with pastel pink, blue or green Slaanesh Icons all over.
If you are a brush virtuoso you could paint classical style schenes of debauchery on the flanks of your vehicles.

Yes pink is not the only colour you can choose, many years ago slaanesh forces used several pastel colours.

I'm sure somebody here did an emperors children force a while back which used dark colours with just pink detailing but i can't find it now. It did look very good, wish i had saved some of the pictures.

They aren't showing up in the forum either. I think the links must be dead

My EC here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22704&p=438185&hilit=children#p438185

Pink is Vallejo pink with a red wash to tone down the brightness and provide depth, purple is just white with purple wash. Also used stone colour with a red wash. Then just combined these in different patterns
