Hi all,
Have recently joined the forum and am amazed with some of the time and effort people put into the hobby, really glad i found this site as epic seems to disapearing everywhere else i.e games workshop and forgeworld. Quick background on myself is that i dont actually play epic, many moon ago when epic first came out i purchased some bits and painted them as i always used to paint the citadel minatures but never play. Anyway about a year ago on ebay stumbled on some epic stuff and purchased it.

Since then have purchased quite a bit of stuff including some stuff of GW specialist games just peed off that they round everything up to £12 whatever you buy on the epic stuff.
Just need to finish the rest as cutting them up takes time but gives a decent individual look as otherwise they look a bit to uniformed, I also have started a project after getting hold of some epic genestealers and the terminators on the lolly stick where a trail with the cannons, will base them on micro magnets and make a metal space hulk base for them! Also im going to give making my own few minatures ago, mainly an epic figure for the emperor and horus and other main charectors during the horus hersey,
With have to see how that goes time permitting,

Cheers for the comments guys, yes converting them makes a big difference in there appearance, the white faced terminators where my first conversion and took a good while to paint! the chaos terminators are the easyiest to paint as i just spray them chaos black, heavy dry brush dwarf bronze then and the mithril silver to arms, face then ink wash blue over the silver, then touch in the red! Still have loads of the berzerker marines to do next!

Never really liked the ideas of titans but after reading the novels etc liked the idea and brought them into scale with the space marine minatures at the bottom and rhinos etc, Would love to covert the beaky marines but there is nothing to cut off as the minatures are already to fragile! Still have a couple of the old lead epic marines but are slighly out of scale so may use them for primachs conversions etc,

Thanks once again for the warm welomce

Loving your conversions! The landraider objective is wicked! What did you use for terminator assault cannons?

Hi,
I had a load of the old style dreadnaughts i.e the type that i used in the downed dreadnaught objective, Simply just chpped a bit of the terminator weapon and used the cannon off the dreadnaught! Bit of a waste of the dreadnaught but gives good results.

Nice! Everything look really good.

I had to laugh when I saw the Land Raider objective. I am going to be going an objective tank with a thrown track, and was thinking how original it was. And now I see you've beaten me to it!

Its a good objective as its a bit different than the usual destroyed tanks + plus been as though its only thrown a track you can put marines on the base leaving the vehicle which adds a bit of life to the objective, As for beating you to it, where all heading in the same direction to make the game, modeling etc more interesting so people are always going to try new things first, Im still reading through the past god knows how many posts on this forum about conversions, tips for painting etc to give myself some new ideas, use other peoples ideas etc its the way ahead,

Its the basing im going to look into next as at the moment i just use gw grass...need to look into more alternatives..

Yep, what they said !

Plus, my faves are the down'd dred objective and the traitor termies, they look much better on the square bases I think.I love the old beaky marines from the SM1 era, I too have spent way too much on ebay now i'm all grown up and now have cash to buy it with.Don't you just wish you had the cash when it was in the shops. :-[

Those heresy books are good,I too paint my marines/Guard/ork/squats etc in the HH era ,and never game. How did you paint the EC,warlock purple and tenticle pink with skull white ?

Oh buy the way, love what you did with the SM1 banners too ;) Keep the picks comming!

Hi Dogtrooper,
The paint scheme is really simple, I glue the marines on the base, one base coat of skull white spray on the marines and base, one quick wash with laviathon purple ( or however you spell it ) then green wash the base, paint the weapons boltgun metal, then add grass to the base! I use this method on all the SM1 marines as it quick, keeps the detail from been lost as comes out to a decent standard, I have always in the past just used the GW paint, But know find myself mainly using the GW washes as the things would never get finished otherwise!

Hi all ,
Got hold of some milliput the other day and have not used it in a few years! Since usiing the greenstuff it seems fine for adding bits for conversions but tried milliput for making a little minature model, Had a quick go yesterday mixied it up and just used a slighty damp craft knife to knock somthing up, didnt really had an idea of what to made and this little chap turned up,

actually, for a first attempt i think it looks nice !
I think with some sanding and smoothing, this will turn quite good.

That might encourage me to try some sculpting of my own one day.
