I'm trying to work out a way to decorate some epic bases with a jungle theme. I already have the GW trees tops but they're a little too large for infantry bases and it's proving very hard to find anything else out there commercially that could be used on an epic base. So I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for random scrap/oddities that could be used to simulate jungle foliage etc at 6mm scale? Perhaps you've done this yourself recently/ in the past?

cheers all

Check out the plastic plants for aquariums in a pet store.

Why not twist your own tree armatures out of wire? You could use some Woodland Scenics foliage for the leaves, and use the wire to attach them to the bases (making them look like roots/vines along the base).

Howabout some dyed lichen?  It rips down to any size you need, and looks beautifully organic.

Last week I got a Woodland Scenics manual/catalogue, and after a look through it I have to agree with KaJo.  The range of stuff is so big you're bound to find something halfway suitable. :oo:

Try the dried flower section at a craft store.  You can find all sorts of stuff which looks tropical or alien next to 6mm models.

And it's cheap.

Dobbsy,

For my 40K Tau army, I created some trees sans foilage using paperclips and Supersculpey. They're pretty simple to do and would be quite scalable to epic.

Also, I'm sure any cheap two-part epoxy would work as a substitute. I can post up a pic if you'd like.

I'm doing jungle bases for a number of my armies.

GW do some suitable plastic bits that can be used as giant leaves and trunks amongst their plastic model ranges check out Wood Elf bits (particularly Dryads), Catachan bits, ect. These can be picked up from ebay, trades or bits websites.

You can also buy tiny brass etched leaves, ferns and creepers online which could be used and look really cool.

Check out plastic Christmas trees.  Some of them have small branch structures that cn be snipped off and added to bases.
