Here is picture of Polaris in his greenery glory. I actually sculpted 3 months this beast.



And here is little bigger picture than the one that entered competition. Painting took one month, 15-30 hours.


Name Polaris was taken from one longhaired rock´n´roll band, from their song Rust in peace... Polaris. You know:
Tremble you weakings, cower in fear
I am your ruler, land, sea and air
Immense in my girth, erect I stand tall
I am nuclear murderer I am Polaris (just ignore that nuclear....  :p )

And this one particular:
I spread disease like a dog
Discharge my payload a mile high
Rotten egg air of death wrestles your nostrils
Launch the Polaris, the end doesn't scare us (in my head I just replace "launch" with "release"...)

I should probably take other picture of him too which would show nice glow from his blasmathingie, from this angle it is just "hinted"...

Actually under all that greenstuff there is that plastic Imperator... You can actually see little bit of grey plastic in its neck.

Hmmmm... Actually I should say "oversculpted it for 3 months".

I keep thinking of Judge Death from the old 2000AD comics whenever I look at the head.
I look forward to seeing a batrep with lots of pics of this beastie!

Heh, it is indeed modelled after Judge Death. One of my favorite baddies in Judge Dredd/Judge Andersson universe.

Outstanding work! :agree:

The light diffusion from the plasma annihilator and other painterly details really brought out the sculpting.  Great picture too.  It's not always easy to capture a model with a camera and you've done a fine job with the lighting & background.

Any shots of the sides/rear?  I'd love to see more details. :grin:

Cool song, VERY cool miniature. I believe the Megadeth song is about the polaris ballistic missiles that were on US nuclear submarines? Polaris is also some sort of wierd God in a Lovecraft story. Fitting combination for this piece!
