So, again I've been intrigued by some of the latest versions of lists, so this effort will chronicle the development of my Khorne/Red Corsairs army. To kick off the whole effort I thought I'd start with Numero Uno, the head cheese, the guy who wanted to be as bad as Chuck Norris, but fell just a tad short. He's also WIP, so more to follow, then I'll start kicking off full units in the army(s). So without further ado and to assuage Frogbear's growing anticipation, I bring you...the Scorpion King...well, at least as far as I've gotten him today. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So this will be my Khornate Lord Uber bad guy and will probably carry the DP stats. He will be closely associated with a terminator retinue. I wanted him to look nastier than a Dreadnought and after a recent acquisition of bits, used some of the leftovers to piece him together. Next I'll be testing my GS-fu to create the torso and build out the legs. Should be an interesting modeling exercise. Cheers, |

Aha! So there it is! I recognise all those pieces, and I must say that is a very good use of all those items. It will be good to see what you do with the build up. I would relly like to see his specially modified Dreadclaw ![]() Keep it going Honda ![]() |

Nice one. I would turn the tail spike around Honda, so the pointy bit points downwards ![]() |

Looking nice ![]() Can I suggest you take 0-man up on his offer of crab legs? The wire legs lets the model down a bit. I can't piece the central body piece either... Help? |

The wire legs are just an armature for sculpting his own ones. Crab legs could be an option, but they may be a little big. Central piece is, I believe, the front close combat weapon / arm shield from Apoc's 'metallic scorpion. Cool conversion! Will be interested to see how this comes out. |

I may take O-man suggestion, but for now I am going to attempt to put more arthropodian type legs on him and see if I can pull that off. If not, then a Plan B. Before I posted these pics, I attempted building legs with some plastic rod, but really didn't like how that was going. I think GS versions will be closer to the overall vision. Cheers, |

Update on the Scorpion King (please do pardon my wretched attempts at photography) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I feel like he's coming on fairly well. Certainly, nothing up to Apocalocyntosis levels of sculpting, but he should be distinctive and fit the part. In looking at the stats for the Khorne DP, it does look like he can take on a Warhound and thrash him, so the fact that the overall figure is as large as a Bloodthirster seems Ok. Remaining to do items on him are the arms and head. The arms are in progress and will essentially morph into some of the stabby blades that represent his lower claws. His head is another matter. My oldest son suggest fashioning a Spartan helmet (i.e. from Sparta vs. Halo) and I rather like that idea. It sort of emphasizes the martial pride that I normally associate with Khorne, so I'm going to give that a shot...plus it gets me out of trying to sculpt a face.  ![]() The legs seem Ok. More arthropod looking vs. mechanical and that sort of ties into the metallic organic look I am after. I do appreciate you offer O-man! So with some time this coming week, I should be able to finish up the last bits and get him base coated. Maybe even have some basic paint on him by next weekend, but we'll see how that goes. Also on the bench for this army are some Helltalons. I was letting the creative juices flow and sort of came up with the idea of a "Maelstrom" camouflage scheme and now I have to see if I can pull that off. Don't ask me what it looks like, all I have is a name. lol More on that later. C&C greatly appreciated! Cheers, |

Oh and I also have this odd fellow hanging around. ![]() ![]() ![]() Basically, he started out as several lumps of left over putty. I didn't want to just throw my remainders away, so I started sticking them together and this is what has evolved to date. The overall idea is that he's got some sort of plague sword overhead, holding his intestines out and spraying those who are slime-impaired sort of like a flame thrower. Because he is bigger than a figure, but not huge like a GUO, I'll probably end up sticking him on a base of troopers and have him represent some sort of upgrade. Anyway, we'll see how this develops. Thankfully, Nurglesque type of sculpts can be fairly forgiving and I am certainly taking advantage of that fact. Cheers, |
