So while I'm waiting for inspiration for the ordinatus tractor unit, I decided that my FW Reaver needed some close-in hitting power. Here's the result of way too long in front of the computer:

Just needs some final tweaks and it ought to be 3d-printable.

would that also look about the right size for a warlord?

Hmm... Maybe a bit more work on the armour on the upper arm? Just looking a tad rough as is.
Otherwise it is looking really good. Planning on updating any other of the new Reaver weapons fits? :)

Your thumb is too undercutty. It should stick out at a right angle.

It might be just big enough to cast seperately?

The quick answer is: I'm not sure. Its about 35x33mm, but I'm considering reducing it by 10% or so before printing.

I agree that the armour needs a little more work - how ought it look? The current Lucius pattern armour is slightly odd in the shapes it uses, and it only offers protection from fire coming in from the Titan's front.

I did have an inkling to do some other weapons fits, especially as my Reaver came with 3x rocket launchers - hardly the best fit in the world. The Volcano cannon and Gatling blaster are certainties, and I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to persuade me to do more....

Do you mean for casting purposes? I'll admit it, I've not given much (any) thought to reproducing these beyond more 3D prints. If I did want to reproduce these, I'd cast them myself in resin, using a 2-part mould. I'd need to remove the inner piston assembly and cast it separately, and the same for the upper pistons on the fist. They're about 10mm each, so I think I could just about do them at home without any pressure equipment.

The thumb is at a right-angle, although I've no idea how those fillets are going to come out...

If I redesign for casting, I might take the top finger and thumb a seperate part, to allow the casting of the fingers.

After several hours redesigning and rebuilding, the powerfist is ready to be printed. I know what I did wrong this time, and so shouldn't have to go through that stage again.

I've re-shaped the front armour segment, based on the leg armour. Does this look better?

Due to the way I made this, it is poseable. I was thinking of getting it printed in maybe 3 different poses - 1 kinda neutral, one with the elbow extended more, and one with the shoulder back and elbow up, ready to punch something:

I realise I may have shown a "not gonna share" attitude that may not have won me many friends. I had originally intended to offer these as 3D prints (at about £4 each). If i were to do a tweak and redesign the model for casting (in 5 or 6 parts), I reckon I could do them for about £2 each.

How much interest would there be in such a project? Would you want a couple?

If I were to make more major modifications and offer a multi-part pose-able kit, would there be any interest in that?

I probably wouldn't want any myself, but how do you get 3d prints so cheap?

Indeed, if you can print at that price you might have a stack of files being sent by people to you!

I've uploaded to Shapeways. Just this and a few other test pieces at the moment, but their system shows the pricing. I've not actually had anything printed by them yet, mainly due to reading somewhere that their minimum order is about $25US. I'm waiting to order until I have made a few more weapons etc.

I was going to link to an interesting thread about them over on SCN, but their forums are down at the moment.

In the meanwhile, I've started on the Maxim Blaster:

Nice work here :)

Don't hesitate to give some feedback when you tested this printer :).

I'll post some photos etc in this thread once I have some prints in my hands.

In the meanwhile, I've been working on the Maxim Blaster some more:

How does the armour look? It was designed to be modular, and will fit on either side as well as combining into a "wrap-around" piece. I'm not entirely happy with it yet (a recurring trend with armour sections it seems...)

I finished up the Maxim blaster - I enlarged the barrels and barrel support, and lengthened and inverted the armour sections.

I also modelled the photon burner:
