Software:
What 3d software is everyone using?

I've tried Blender.  Intuitive and easy is what they claim, impossible and painful is what it actually is.

I acquired a version of 3D studio back in the day.  Awesome program, freaking expensive.

Has anyone tried Google Sketch Up?

Also, has anyone been able to take a rapid prototype, make a mold and start casting figures?  I saw some awesome masters on the board (nice robot Evil), but I haven't seen the full mass production deal.

Thanks,

TrademasterAdam

I use MoI (www.moi3d.com) for my designs. It's cheap and comparatively easy to learn.

I use Rhinoceros, which is not as cheap, and I probably should have gone with MoI as Otterman seems to get great results from it.

I don't think google sketchup will export the .stl files required for rapid prototyping unless you upgrade to the pro version?

Ive seen a few people use solid works over on warseer as well.

Who said blender was easy to learn :O it seems to be regarded as having a very steep learning curve.

I use AutoCad 2008, because it is available through my work. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't use it.

I use blender, it is actually pretty quick and easy to use although I was transitioning in from Maya.
