G'day all,

Time to get cracking on this tale of epic gamers thing and start producing some sort of products.

As yet I haven't produced an army list to follow, that will be a job for the coming weeks. This month I do however plan to complete a RHQ and 2 artillery btys or some hellhounds.

Last night I painted a few tanks to work out a basic colour scheme. I think i've found something simple, quick yet realatively effective.

I'm currently useing:
base coat of astronomican grey
dry brush skull white
some weapons in adeptus grey
track in boltgun metal
wash all with badab black
tracks and similar with gryphonne sepia

I plan on adding more detail with the spare time i have(hopefully)at the end of each month. The following photos aren't great as they were pretty rushed but will hopefully give you some idea.

I'm still yet to settle on a scheme for the infantry. I've tried a blue/grey and will also try a brown/tan tomorrow.

I've also recently gotten some nice goodies off Otterman so I'm keen to get them painted and into the list.

Let the TOEG09 madness begin

Really crisp painting and natural looking highlights :agree:

Orton,

Looking good mate, as a long term gaming partner of Orton's I have seen first hand the masses of upainted armies and I am truely looking forward to seeing him finnish this army. Pictures look a treat mate, so is the army Vallhalans or simply an Ice World themed job. You and I are thinking alike again, as I was thinking of doing my Guard in that manner, along the lines of WWII German units in the snow circa 1939-42.

Good luck mate, I will be watching intently, may even go down stairs now and map out my own TOEG.

Cheers
Aaron

Thanks Cal,

Yeah its about time these guys saw some paint. Some of the models have been in long term storage in a vat of simple green as well so there is a cleaning process required as well.

First off, apologies for not doing any painting last week, I arrived at work on monday to be told to pack my bags and spent the rest of the week flying around the country side. CAL i was in sydney for a bit but had no chance to catch up so didn't bother with a call.

Anyhow I had a look at what i have got today - came across a bunch of old robots and a thought struck me. I'm going to add tech guard units to this force as well so i can either use it as a standard guard force or a tech guard force.

The tech guard will give me plenty of options to do conversions etc.

With my robots I've been looking at using the older metal robots as "counts as" forge knights. What do people think of this? they are similar in size to a SM dread, and the stats aren't that far different, you could assume they are built for speed and include a small powerfield for added protection.

Otherwise I could also use them as sentinels but then they seem a bit weak..

Anyhow the final reason for this is it allows me to paint up and use my flashy new gorgons.

righto enough chitterchatter time to find some models and paint.

Cheers
Geoff

Stats wise they look suitable offensively, although forge knights are 4+, reinforced, invulnerable save, which is a bit on the tough side :p . but if the old OOP plastic/metal knights are normally used as forge knights id say the robots were too small anyway, half the height and less bulky.

I use DRM mantagens for my forgeknight, they're about 2/3 the size of a paladin which fits my idea of how they should be when comparing rules. I use my robots either as praetorians or sentinels. Praetorians seems particulaly apporpriate.
