Hi, I have started the "choix des armes" french challenge. I choose to build a Elysian army for NetEpic. The goal is a 3000 points army by the end of this year (painting 600 points in 2 monthes). Challenge started on 1st march and here is my first part: - A SkyWolf company consisting of 10 Vultures: ![]() ![]() Pics during painting job: Leader Vulture: ![]() ![]() ![]() Next step will be harder: a complete drop troops company with a total of 34 infantry stands. |

Airbrush are great for a lot of things but learning using it well is not that easy (I'm just a beginner) and after the painting session, it takes about 10-15 minutes to dismount it and totally clean it. But it's worth the investment in money and in time. I added few pics taken during painting job. So you can see the paint of the "under side". |

Quote: (Warmaster Nice @ 15 May 2009, 14:16 ) How do you do shading and highlights after you've airbrushed? -> shading: a nice brush size 0, some citadel foundation washes (the grey one for underside and brown one for the top) and some patience. -> highlight: not many highlights on the minis, the "WIP" pics have been fastly taken just under my "daylight" lamp so colors looks flatten. |

Looks very nice. I also love the vulture models in general. It seems that airbrush is very nice for a nice thin coat and a very thin camo pattern. I guess you never get this kind of outcome using a brush, correct? (unless maybe many coats absolutely thinned down, which then again means hours of work...) |

(unless maybe many coats absolutely thinned down, which then again means hours of work...) it's true that the transitions of color in a camo pattern made with an airbrush are really long to reproduce with a brush. With an airbrush, you also can do a very thick coat if dilution/pressure/others parameters are not correctly managed, airbrush is not magical and it took me some hours of training to achieve the vulture camo that's not perfect at all... |

A good airbrush is particularly helpful...  single action to double action is night and day. I'm still working on controlling the flow of paint... but the airbrush is an extremely useful tool, not least because some highlighting/shading comes as a freebie with the technique. |
