Here's the current state of the spudd and pestle guns. The carriage is still somewhat ugly, and will be posted later.

Looks like a good start ; what's the plan for casting the Thudd Gun?

Single piece casting with carriage, mold plane parallel with the 'ground'.

That's conjecture for now. I'll know more when I have made progress with the carriage itself.

This thing is also trouble. Here's the 4:1 version (next to the 4:1 tankette).

I'm thinking that I'll just have to 'fill in' all of the gaps to get this thing to be a single piece cast. It won't be super-sexy, but hey, this thing is just a small field gun, right?

The other decision is to scale it to 4.67:1 or leave it in scale with the tankette (but not in true 6:28 scale).

I say leave it in scale with the Tankette, unless you're thinking of using a smaller scale that's closer to FW's scale (then go for that).

I say fill the centre.

Otterman your stuff always looks good, even if you don't think. So I say do what you have to do to make it producable and you know I would want a bunch. Its looks great next to the "tankette" :wow:

Agreed, leave it in scale with the tankette.

Looks great :agree: I'd say the opposite actually; the tankette is meant to be a bit over-sized I believe and IMO the most important thing for the gun to be in scale with is the 6mm infantry which crew it, which we're most used to seeing next to it in photos.

If it towers over-big next to it's crew, that will be a far bigger downer than if the vehicle towing it is a little larger in comparison - the latter seems no big deal to me.

Looks great. I`m too for scaling it properly (= not in scale with the tankette).

One more argument: The Saltshaker uses the same wheels. It would look odd if the spud and pestleguns had bigger wheels.

I don't know what it is about towed artillery, but designing it has broken my spirit.

I need a week to marshal.
