Hi everyone, this is my first post here and with it I have a question for you guys. Having just recently gotten back into Epic by way of a Titan force, I've decided to start on some Imperial Guard to give the Titans something to look down on. My question is how to assemble the standard GW SG plastic Infantry Company box to make a game legal Infantry Company? I've got the Snipers and Ogryns sussed, but the Company is a little confusing. I'm aware that this is quite the n00bish question, but I'd rather ask a daft question than fluff up my minis. Cheers, Vredesbyrd. |

I believe you get two Infantry companies worth of regular guardsmen with the new boxset. So, base 24 stands of straight infantry and 2 stands of 4 infantry and 1 commander. That will give you two companies. As to the remaining two commanders, you could base those on small circular bases and use them as Commissars. The remaining 8 infantry you could put on objectives, titan bases are save them for conversions. |

First, for us that have been around to long to have seen these new ones... Could you put up one photoed sprue for us? ![]() Next... Put commissars with the ogryn. Good value there! Tremendous close combat and serious save on top. |

Excellent, thanks for the advice guys. @ Erik I'll try to get some pictures up tonight once I've gotten my camera back from my girlfriend. I must say I like the idea of Commissar led Ogryns. ![]() |

The box contents are on GWs site. You get 4 sprues per box, with each sprue having 5 Ogryns, 5 Ratlings, 34 Guardsmen and 1 Commander/Commissar. |

But I want to see the actual sprue for once Dave... ![]() He'll not die that much more up front. And there he can actually make a difference. |

But Erik, it is the same as the E40k sprue...? ![]() The old E40k sprues were quite long and each frame came 'folded' in half into a small box. The new IG, SM and Ork E:A sprues are simply the troop-heavy half of these same E40k sprues, and you now get four to a box instead. |

Not quite true, the sprues were recut to remove several of the models. The EA sprues are not quite identical to half the E40k ones. |

Very much NOT the E40k sprue. Hm... 4 commissars, 20 ratlings, 20 ogryn and 136 guards then? No psyker, no commander, no catachan, no missile launcher, no autocannon, no vox operator and def no loader. No, these are definitely NOT E40k. Thanks. I haven't really seen any of these, almost none of the E40k either. Now I KNOW how happy I am with my excess of support guards from Epic and E40k. Edit: no roughriders either |

Aye that's how it all breaks down when you've got your four sprues. |

You really "must" have them characters and support squads. DRM offers both and more at each with their: Reg HQ HI0009 for various HQ functions, Scout Infantry HI0006 & Sniper HI0008 for Snipers and other things. Most important thou are: AT Infantry HI0002 for Support Platoon(s!) and Standard Infantry HI0004 for Stormtroopers. With Brigade you get everything, so that's perhaps to late for now. E/W offers a bunch of various support and other (I haven't used it much so don't really know how I would use each offering...). Well actually I know, I would use those extra guards to form Support Platoons with E/W's Guild Support Centuria. And get them Guild Mounted Bounty Hunter Patrol at them same time, to use as Rough Riders. The same goes for Command Horizon and various others. Oops, that was perhaps not really what you asked for... ![]() Put one commissar with each ogryn platoon and the replaced ogryns with the other commissars (as perhaps banner bearers?) on the two company command stands. |

I stand corrected; it seems some sprues were also altered slightly. Compared to the pic above, the original IG sprue half had a row of 10 Catachans underneath the Ogryn instead of the regular troops it has now. Even so, I still don't understand why GW removed all the characters and special troops from the Ork, IG and SM sprues. Just to push the metal blisters at silly money? ![]() |
