Hi guys. Just finished these last night but have yet to decide on a basing scheme so they are still not finished.

Taken quickly this morning with my camera phone. The idea is to have them functioning as Luna Wolves (light grey) or possibly Space Wolves at a push. We are running the remainder of our Heresy-Era campaign using only Epic so we need as many legions as possible - My Thousand Sons may see some action as Ultramarines before the campaign finishes.

Painting: Base coat Astronomicon Grey, drybrush elf grey and skull white. Chaos Black details followed by Shadow Grey highlights and Chainmail for metal parts. Wash with wtered down Badab Black and leave to dry.

More to come...

Comments please.

Uh-oh.

Nice painting though.  Very effective. :)

Old GW or CDA elf grey?

Any vague ideas on a basing scheme?  I'd go with urban rubble, although you might want to tint it a different grey.  Hit it with devlan mud or something.  Or even blue.

Got 2 old Hex pots of Elf grey in my paint box (1 still with seal).

Was thinking of doing light brown - graveyard earth d/brush bleached bone and wash of devlan mud.

Good to see some more pre-heresy epic about!  :)

The grey looks good, very suitable for the Luna Wolves. I think the metal needs a bit more contrast though - probably partly the pictures, but it just seems to blend into the grey too much. I think another wash with non-diluted Badab Black would sort it out nicely.

Are youy planning on adding any more detailing? Legion symbols perhaps - I know you are planning to have them function as either LW or Space Wolves, but both Legions have a variation of a wolf's head as their symbol - and the Space Wolves, during the pre-heresy period as they do in 40K, use a wide range of wolf heraldry depending on which Great Company they are from. In 6mm at least, the Luna Wolf symbol could easily also represent one of the Space Wolf pre-heresy Great Companies.

Looking forward to more of these guys!

Hey Red Sorceror: yeah, got the icons from BOLS and will print them out and add them throughout the army.

More to come.

Lovely  I tend to agree with the Sorceror regarding the metal parts. For the tracks you could give them some rusty looking washes, or even use brown mud colors that match the base to differentate them from the grey hull.

Well that is high praise indeed WMN! Will give the tracks another wash of straight black I think.

Wow !!!  Very, Very Nice !!  :agree:  And in Tac Colors !!  :agree:  And those are great pics for a camera phone.  And  a light wash of black would work for the tracks. In the RW all are tracks came from the factory painted black and the track pads were black rubber. So a Black wash is good.   :agree:

If you have Luna Wolves, go lunar. Slightly textured light gray base, with some tinting to differentiate from the model themselves.

Stay away from gray bases. You need contrast.

Nice work btw. You know, for the lascannon barrels a very light drybrush of gold (extremely light I should say) on just the highlighted line would help build more contrast between it and the gray.
