Edit: Ack, sorry about the thread title. Apparently my link pasting ended up in the wrong place. :sulk: Hopefully a mod can fix it for me.

So now that I'm starting to finish up my fantasy Chaos army it's time to ramp up on painting my epic stuff. Had a productive weekend and figured it would be a good start for my forces.

First up are the guard of my command squad:

And the Commisar:

Supreme Commander's stand isn't quite here yet as I'm waiting for a package from GW to arrive with the character pack, but I have the full squad painted up otherwise.

Also I figured I would experiment with a couple of my damaged FW Chimeras to try and repair their lasgun turrets, and I am actually happy with the results:

look a little rough close up, mainly since I am not used to converting in 6mm scale... yet.

They look nice, but wouldn't it have been easier to just cut off a slightly larger round piece of plastic?

Might save you some time.  :)

Looks good !    :agree:   You could just cut the broken las-guns off too ... as with the original issue M2 Bradleys those weapons (a smaller version of the M16) could be removed from the firing ports for cleaning, etc. ...  And it is clear to me the Chimera was based on the US Bradley/UK Warrior ...

It might be easier to just amputate the miscast guns and use wire/p-card rod.  Although I'd probably go with Milliput/Magic Sculpt vs GS for the lasgun ends, you could probably do pretty well just dipping the ends in PVA until you get to the right thickness.

The troops look good.  :))

Thanks for the comments :)

I probably should have made it clearer - I did in fact amputate the miscast / broken guns, and those are purely a combination of plasticard and GS. Might try some of the suggestions as I still have one more to fix in the current batch.

I'll try and get a pic of the whole squad tonight. The pic I took last night came out poorly. Also need to try test-painting a couple Leman Russes tonight to try out a few patterns. I was thinking either digital urban camo or something more akin to WWII Germany. I am definately going for an "urban" feel for the army though.

Teeny-tiny pressmoulds of the best-quality surviving lasguns. :)

Nice work, tho.

Cool !! Go for camo or Tactical colors ! I tend to stay away from Urban schemes since AFVs really do better in mobil warfare(Blitzkrieg/Air-Land Battle doctrine). But as always - DWWFY (Do What Works For You) !  :;):

Nicely done.  Are these perhaps part of a potential opposing army in May?

I am aware that AFVs do better on open ground, but just because I'm painting them in urban schemes doesn't mean I'm using them exclusively in cityfights :) I just happen to really like the imagery of a force painted up in urban camo for some reason.

Of course it would look out of place on an open field, but it's not like the Imperium already doesn't deploy units that are wildly out of place to begin with  :vD

Ok, so the test schemes for the tanks and Chimeras was an utter failure, and the test Russ ended up getting stripped a couple times this week  :sigh: Also got my replacement Chimeras from Forge World, and of the 2 I needed, only 1 of the 6 was in pristine condition, with the other 5 ranging from close to a couple that I'm wondering how they slipped through QC  :glare:

So another call this week, and I'll try repairing them, at this rate after repairs I may have almost all of my IG Mechanized

Got my order in from GW finally, which meant a flurry of building Eldar and IG, and got a bit painted. I am quite happy with the way the bikes came out, but I'm not so happy with the riders... they are painted in the same scheme as my infantry, but it's hard to pick them out, so I'll have to try some highlighting this week to see what I can do about that.

Since there are no stats I'm using these guys as my Rough Riders.

Also test-painted a stand of Guardians in Ulthwe colors. I like how they came out, even though their weapons don't look like "proper" wraithbone:

And finally a group shot of the IG platoons that I've got paint on (well "sorta", the Commander just got upgraded to shiney metal so hasn't had a chance to get painted)

And the picture doesn't show it, but the WWII Germany colors + city rubble-esque bases actually works well in person. Even if it'll look somewhat strange fighting on grassy plains  :vD
