I'm putting together my Elysians finally and I was wondering if anyone had a picture they could post or email me of an Elysian Support Sentinel.

Also, any suggestions on how to distinguish between drop troopers and hardened veterans?

Help would be much appreciated.

You mean the Elysian Drop Sentinel?

I would think it is just a slightly modified regular sentinel made for airdrops.

Nice Sentinel !!  Mosy - When you mean how to tell the difference between Drop Troops & Hardened Vets ... you mean like painting or markings, Berets, etc. ?

That isnt my sentinel. Stole the image from Forgeworld.

As far as hardened vets go, I would say berets and special weapons. If that is too much, I would go with a different paint job or a hero/leader/more posed model in the unit.

That's not a support sentinel, that's a drop sentinel. Elysians use 2 different types.  The Support Sentiel doesn't usually drop, and is armed with a rocket or missile pod and sensor equipment which acts as a beacon to help the elysians drop in the right place.

I believe E&C has an epic one modelled up, so I'll try to get him to post it.

Zombo answered my question perfectly.  Thanks, hombre!  By the way, where did you find the info on Support Sentinels not typically dropping?  I am not disputing it- in fact I think that might be something to bring up now since Honda is working on version 2.1.5 and the 'teleporting popcorn' argument has come up (see thread).  Your info could help carve the list out better.

L4, Elysians have Drop Sentinels and Support Sentinels (as seen in pictures above).  I just hadn't been able to find an image of a Support version until now.

Silentbob, thanks for the suggestion.  Special weapons might be a pain to do for every stand but not so bad for 2-3 models per stand.  And berets I could probably work with some greenstuff.

Another question: there are two (good) version of the Sentinels.  One with the open top and the gatling gun on the side.  The other is with the closed top and the lascannon(?) on the side.  For modeling purposes, which do y'all think would make the better Drop Sentinel?  From the picture, it appears the open topped one would, but I'm open to suggestions.

Open topped. Weight is at a premium for air-transported equipment, especially when it is being dropped into a warzone.

I didn't dispute the Sentinel types !  Wasn't me ! :oh: :vD  I just asked if you meant by telling the difference, by using insignia, Markings and Berets, etc.  Or as Bob mentioned and I did with my DA Scouts, putting them in camo uniforms, etc.   Which IMO is the easiest to do ! 8v)

E&C is an elysian nut, he has a 40k elysian army, including a support sentinel. Their ability to get the beacon or whatever it's called is why they don't drop. I'm not sure if they can or can't drop, but in 40k it's worth deploying them as they allow you to reroll for the reserves rolls for the rest of the army to drop in.

Three.  :))

They can.

Indeed, they're the best platform for calling in those all-important reserve rolls in 40k, as they can hide out of LOS whilst still shooting with their missile weapon.

By the way, where did you find the info on Support Sentinels not typically dropping?
He's basing that on my typical strategies in 40k.

Open topped.

If you can, remove the gatling gun and replace it with a multi-melta (Either from land speeders or dreadnoughts have multi-melta models) then it's perfect.

@ E+C or any Elysian fluff nut, :p
would the beacon be worth including in epic scale ?
I was thinking along the lines of something the Epic-UK team have been working on.
Teleporters that come in within say 30cm (or different range if appropriate) of the beacon get to re-roll any 1's or even limit it to 1 or 2 maybe re-rolled.

No, I wouldn't say that their ability to take a communications upgrade would be represented at Epic scale ; Every Leman Russ on the battlefield can take this same upgrade in 40k but that's not represented either.

I'd agree it's not worth a special rule.

I would say a special rule probably wouldn't be a great idea except for a scenario.  However, modeling that little beacon would not only be easy but cool looking to boot.
