Well, after a LONG break from the game, I'm getting back into good 'ol 2nd edition epic/titan legions.  Some of you may have seen my chaos army from a while back, but I've never posted it here on these forums.  I plan on expanding it another few thousand points by adding a Tzeentch section.  Currently, this army sits at exactly 6,000 points. ![]() You can click here to see a larger image. I've only used the army once - where it trashed my opponent who was playing a squat force - with so many demons, once I close into hand to hand combat it's all over. Anyways, I wanted to show you guys my current army, and share my progress as I expand it.  First, a summary of what's already in the army: (click on the units title to see a close up image) NURGLE Great Unclean One - This guy is slow, and to be honest, not that great.  BUT - put him in the Plague Tower, and watch as your opponent freaks when he comes floppin' into his lines, throwing up all over the place! The Plague Tower - This thing is pretty mean, and tough as nails.  As mentioned before the thing can carry around greater demons for a nice surprise.  I had fun painting this model, and sculpted a big banner made of skin for him! Contageon Plague Engines - These things pretty much suck, but when they do actually manage to spread some sickness in the enemy ranks, thay can cause quite a disruption.  I included them in the force mainly because I like the models. Beasts of Nurgle - My favorite lesser demon - these things are tough, and pack a mean punch in close combat.  I have 2 units of them. Plague Bearers - Thes guys are like cheaper, less effective beasts, but they are still great to have.  I also have 2 units of these guys. Trolls - This unit, along with the Blood Letters, makes for a nice block of shock troops that I can use to snatch up objectives in dangerous areas of the board where they will come under heavy fire.  Because they can regenerate, and have an awesome close assault factor, they can hold on to objectives once they capture them nicely. Nurgle Reaver Titan - This model was my most extensive modeling project to date.  Only a few pieces are stock, and even those pieces are extensively converted.  I made the majority of this model from scratch.  You can see the original concept sketch by clicking here, and a early WIP shot by clicking here.  On the table, this guy fills the role of a titan or super heavy hunter, knocking down shields with his death storm, and then delivering the killer blow with dual volcano cannons. KHORNE Blood Thirster - The blood Thirster is aweseome in any game in which it appears and epic is no exception.  In the game I played against the squats, the Blood Thirster single handedly killed off the majority of the squat air force, bringing down numerous gyrocopters and airships. Lord of Battle - I didnt mess around when I chose the weapons for this guy.  He's all about hunting down titans and super heavies and slicing their asses in half.  I never liked how stiff this model usually looks, so I converted him to be a bit more dynamic.  I really like the way it came out, and with it rolling 4d6+10 in close combat, (5d6 if I'm winning) the thing carries out it's job with gusto. Cannons of Khorne - As unpredictable as these cannons are, I love the damage they cause when their shots land true.  I included six of them in my army - eldar titans beware. Demon Engines of Khorne squad 1 & 2 - The detail these models sport made paiting them a exercise in lunicy, but I'm happy with the results.  I decided to take 2 squads of Khorne engines so I could have one of each, and they all have something interesting to bring to the table. Blood Letters - Blood Letters are awesome close combat fighters, and they can regenerate to boot.  I took three units of these guys and blatantly shove them down my opponents throat.  They make for great distractions while the rest of my army advances. SLAANESH Keeper of Secrets - I've always liked this model, and his power is downright scary to anything hoping they are protected by thick armor or even shields.  Fiends of Slaanesh - These lesser demons are basically meat shields, though they can pull out a win in close combat against weaker enemies.  I use them mainly as quick, objective snatching units, and you cant beat their price of only 50 points per unit. Hell Knights - All of the Slaanesh traitor knights are overpriced in my opinion, but when used correctly, they can pack a nasty punch.  The hell knights are armed with a nasty thermal lance that can lay waste to entire tank formations. Hell Striders - These are the weakest of the Slaanesh knights, but if you can manage to sneak up on an unshielded titan or super heavy, than can really ruin your opponents day. SQUATS Chaos Squats squads 1 2 & 3 - The whole theme of this army was that a renegade sect of squats had been toiling away for years making demon engines and summoning demons to help bring their homeworld under the rule of chaos.  My opponent's squat army represented the loyalist squats that had uncovered their plot all but too late to stop them. So that's the army in a nutshell.  Tomorrow I plan to go over the plans I have in mind for the Tzeentch units that I will be adding to this force, including my plans for a heavily converted Warlord titan! |

Fantastic looking Chaos Horde. I love the Nurgle Reaver, very in keeping with the rest of the force. Damn, you even made your Slaanesh somehow look sexy. |

Thanks again everyone. Alrighty, Here's what I have cookin' for this new Tzeentch warlord titan. ![]() I'm going to try to capture a look that is in line with both the old style of the Tzeentch engines, and the newer look of formlessness as shown in the 28mm horror models. -Model will be based on the old "beetle-back" warlord. -Flat areas of armor will be covered with horror-like faces. random placement of eyes and teeth. -The head will be a modified old Tzeentch titan head - The Ahirman head will be used to add horns, and I will sculpt the eye areas to look more like the bird-skull headed flyers of Tzeentch. -The chaos energy whip will be modeled to resemble a mechanical wing. -The legs will be bird-like, ending is sharp talons. -The back will sport a large platform, which will support towers much like the silver towers engines. The titan will be armed with 2 one-shot missiles, a Plasma Destructor, chaos energy whip, tail, and close combat head. The idea is that this guy will fire off his one-shot missiles (vortex, harpoon, or barrage) early on, and then sit back and fire with the plasma destructor for the rest of the game. The biggest threat to this titan will be swarms of infantry or vehicles that are good at close combat - therefore I have armed it with an energy whip that can swipe these smaller sorts of attackers aside. -So far, I have removed the legs from the torso, and have shaved off the shield generators from the carapace to make room for the platform. -Begining stages of sculpting have been started on the carapace area, and so far, so good. ![]() Let me know what you guys think! |
