Hey everyone,

My name is Daniel, and I recently joined this forum because I LOVE Epic and finally found some time (and minis) to begin building up fun stuff!!

I am starting this log, because I have found out that the best way to motivate myself is by starting a log. There is something about being able to show others some progress... I shouldn't be extrinsically motivated, BUT IT WORKS! :O

Now, I don't have much to show yet, but I already registered over a week ago, and I couldn't hold myself longer. I was also getting extremely inspired by many of the logs here, so here goes.

The story so far
I recently bought the set Adeptus Titanicus and the add-on Space Marine from a club member. He found out I was getting very interested in Epic because I started talking about it on our forum. I always had been intrigued, but it got the best of me, and I started ranting about.

I bought his set, even though I wanted to start an Imperial Guard army. However, the set was pretty cheap, so I couldn't resist.

Since all the models were really old, and I do like to keep with the current time line (I am a purist that way), I decided to convert everything to Chaos, seeing as it only fits the theme, as they probably only have really old Marks of Rhinos, Land Raiders and the likes. I went for Death Guard (Post Heresy), as I have a soft, pustulent spot for Nurgle, and I also have several 40K Death Guard models to go against my 40K Imperial Guard, which I will convert to Epic when I finish this and have some money again.

So here are the first three test models, first highlight. I've already done a bit more on them, but this is what I took a picture of. I'm quite pleased with the result.

I also began building some scenery, but that's all early stages still. I will show a picture as soon as I get some more done.

I also gave some of the models to a friend, as it's too much for me alone. He is painting them Emperor's Children (Post Heresy), so we have some colourful stuff soon!

Anyhoo, enjoy. I will also use this log to ask some questions from time to time, as I only just begun collecting, and need some pointers on how to organise my units and such. It's also quite hard to find out what the Space Marine models on the sprue represent, so if you guys can help me out from time to time that would be great.

As my next project I already have something special planned. I am going to use one of the old Dreadnoughts, to convert to a Nurgle Daemon Prince, like the 40K model that came out during Medusa V. It seems the right size and proportions! :D

Well, that's enough for now, too much rambling, by far not enough pics! I will show more real soon, I promise!  :sigh:

as I have a soft, pustulent spot for Nurgle,

I had that once too, but some Gold Bond medicated powder took care of the situation.

Kidding aside, welcome! We're pleased to have you here.

Haha,

Well yes, I am from noble heritage! Vindar heritage that is! (You'll find out soon enough what that is!)

The red trees are of cours actually for 40K, but I got another 2 sets of them, and the small bushes are definitely going to be formed into Epic size jungle bases!! Pics of that as soon as I have them!

I have this problem too. Get help now before it grows to be a monster. Believe me, I know...  :p

Welcome.

Seconded.  Lots and lots of bargains can really add up.  Especially getting all those bits and peices needed to flesh out the dozzens of "bargain" armies.

Hey everyone,

I haven't been around in a looong time... I've done a lot of stuff since, but nothing for Epic, I'm afraid.

Now, I hope this will change in the near future. I'm getting married in less than a week, after which we will finally have our own place, and plenty of room for some hardcore hobbying. I also spoke with my Epic buddy and we're both definitely looking forward to finally finishing our stuff, as well as getting our many great ideas for a gaming table done.

So anyways, I need some help from you guys from a army building perspective. I already asked this quite a while ago on Warseer, but they didn't really give me the answers I was looking for.

So first, a rundown of the things I have:

Rinos : 32
Landraiders : 16
Warlord titan : 6
Reaver titan : 2 :
Warhound titan : 4
Dreadnoughts : 20
Robots : 5
Landspeeders : 2
Rapiers : 2
Jetbikes : 2
Tarantulas : 2
Mole mortars : 2
And too many Space Marines to count.

They're all from the Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine boxed sets, with maybe a couple of additional Titans. I bought it from a clubmember, so I'm not sure.

Anyways, this is the plan. Me and a friend want to paint all of this up, so I kind of want to divide it in two, so we both can get an army ready. I'm afraid all the Space Marines are regular bolter toting guys, no special weapons, but I think we can either convert them or buy some off of Ebay or something.

He is going for Emperor's Children, while mine will be Death Guard. Since we will most probably be the only two players for a while, we don't care much about winner army lists, but we need some help from you guys to get us started, so we know what to paint. Since all the models are pre-Heresy, we're going for Chaos Marines, as it fits the theme. They don't really have access to all the new Space Marine tanks...

The Titans is a different story. I am going to use some of them for my Imperial Guard army, which I want to build after this. I do want to include SOME in our Chaos armies, just not all of them.

Could you guys give me a solid army list to begin with? I have no idea what a good total is, but perhaps you can give me a 1000 and 2000 point list with (half of) what I have. That way me and my friend can basically build an identical army, just different colours. One last thing, we're both avid modellers and want to build a Daemon Prince, so that can be included as well. They don't have to be completely identical by the way. If something fits one of these armies really well, I might add more of that than in the other army. It's all good.

It's all going to be for Epic:Armageddon, so I won't need army lists for the older versions.

If you could help me out with this, I would be most grateful!

Thanks... The only problem is, that start was half a year ago.
If you could read my previous post, perhaps you could help me with making a new start... Because I have zero knowledge of Epic, and not enough time to come up with a good, solid armylist with the stuff I have... So if you could help me out with that.

Well, almost all the rules you will need are under the Specialist Games Resource page at GW website so getting 'educated' shouldn't be problem! In the meantime though i can certainly help you out with what you have!

Rinos : 32: Maybe a few too many but marines get them for free!
Landraiders : 16: Generally considered to be a poor formation; come's in units of 4
Warlord titan : 6: Titans; you've got enough to make a titan legion army let alone support for marines!  Marines will usually only have a reaver or several warhounds in tow in an average sized game.
Reaver titan : 2 : See above!
Warhound titan : 4: These are GREAT for marines. Take 3 in a 3k list
Dreadnoughts : 20: Only really useful in drop pods
Robots : 5: Not really used anymore
Landspeeders : 2: Come in formaitons of 5
Rapiers : 2: Could be used as Devastators these days; not 'officially' in the lists
Jetbikes : 2 Won't really find these anymore i'm afraid' if you had more would make good bike units
Tarantulas : 2: Devatstor proxy
Mole mortars : 2 Devastator Proxy
And too many Space Marines to count: Just tactical marines i presume? Tactical formations come in clumops of six units.

Thanks, at least now I have a general idea of how to build it up.

Yeah, it's only Tactical Marines, but we know how to convert. And I definitely don't mind proxying, as it's all going to be Chaos anyways.

So, is 2000 points a good start or should we head for 3000 immediatly?
