Hi all,

I'm trying to put together a Tyranid force, and would really like quite a horde of little gribbly's to carpet the field with ( :shutup: !) but as we all know the price of nid plastics is proving prohibitive...

I've seen the new DRM Bio-Units and am considering getting some to possibly mix in with my existing infantry.

So what do people think? Does anyone have any comparison pics, nids vs biounits? Which Bio-units due you reckon correspond to which nid units (other than Leapers->Gargoyles)?

Cheers
G

Judging strictly by base size I'd say that some of the infantry is slightly taller than the GW Termagant, but the Hormogaunts and Genestealers would be roughly the right size.
Go with whatever you think look right I haven't seen any painted DRM Tyranid proxy armies out there yet, so feel free to set the standard :;):

On a related note: Those critters/defenders look like good Fiends of Slaanesh proxies!

I've looked into "workers" and they are smack on.
Just get one each of them and sort them out. And if you mix 'em up it'll probably work even better. They are after all an ever evolving specis, right?

I posted comp. pics on thread in the DRM forum here ... I'll find it and repost it.  And DRM or E/W figs are completely compatible with Epic ... That was part of the idea !  :;):

I've looked on the DRM site and wouldn't hesitate to include these minis in my Hive. Nice price too IMO.

WMN - Fiend of Slaanesh; Genius! When I saw them I was trying to place what it reminded me off but couldn't quite figure it out...a fiend!

Those photos of yours were spot on L4, but the only ones I could find were the ones in the thread I link to in the OP - comparisons to none nid figs. I'm being picky I know, but I just wondered was all!

So, what do we think on the direct comparisons:
Leapers -> Gargoyles
Critter/Defenders -> Termagants??
Worker Beasts -> Genestealers??
Vampire Beasts -> Hormagaunts??
Claw Beasts -> Not sure here - still not keen on the 'sea-shell' feet...!

Oh good !  You found them ! :D  Yes, I have yet to take G/W 'Nidz & DRM Bugz pics.  But those will give you an idea ! :alien:  Your comparison list sounds good too me. The Claw Beasts could be Lictors ... or Carnifexs ...

You need to set the forum to show all topics and then look as it hides older topics

Check out Firebase #7.  The specialist games section has some really nice photos of Olly's (on this forum) nid army which uses the DRM biounits as infantry.

Firebase can be downloaded from www.warseer.com

Its on page 161 and 162.  Olly's big nid conversions kind of draw the eye away from them I must admit.

The fact that you didn't even notice they were DRM kind of proves the point though.  An appropriately painted proxy can easily look really good in the 6mm scale when looking at a table top view rather than zooming up on the individual miniatures.
