I recently bought a bunch of eldar fliers on ebay, but only ~half of them have flying stands. My options are:
1) buy some stands
2) make them

Naturally, number 2 seems like more fun. Does anyone have experience with making flying bases? (or any relevant experience/ideas). I have epoxy resin which I've been looking for a chance to try out. Good idea/ bad idea?

You get two stands for each base when you buy them so you can probably get a heap of the stands off someone for nothing and then just make up the bases using washers or 40K terminator sized bases.  If your in Australia I'll send you the stands otherwise I am sure you could find someone local to get them from without wasting on postage.

That sounds a lot easier. I had no idea, and thought the flying stands were hard to come by except with models. Thanks for the offer, but I'm in Ireland. Hopefully I can find someone nearby that has a surplus.

What are washers?

I have MANY stands but no flying bases. What's a good alternative to make these?

Seems like you're already set up but I do have several of the old hex stands if you are still interested.

I made flying stands for my Eldar Falcons and Serpents out of wire. I made a loop on each end and glued one loop on a sheet of cardboard. On the other loop i laid put the Falcon/Serpent.

Washers are the round metal disc you use with nuts and bolts.

Thanks very much for the replies, everyone. You've all been very helpful. I've arranged to get some bases from Mark_Cardiff, but I appreciate knowing where to buy them and how other people made them. Cheers :)
