Just won both of these in a WFB competition :)

See here:

Question - anyone else used these foundation paints, and if so any words of advice about using them? And how good are they?

And Mighty Empires? Anyone got some good Epic adaptations for this?

I've used the foundation yellow as a foundation layer(whatever it is called) on my black and yellow stripped heirophant.  It really helped get upto a decent bright yellow without too many coats.

Not too sure about the others though.

Ok, I guess I can;t really blame you for not reading my blog - I don't read it myself... anyway:

The foundation paints (in my case bought with a Christmas gift voucher) are fun and quick to use, and give opaque coats with a thin application of paint. Details are not lost, unless you overload the brush drastically. They adhere well to metals and plastic and coat them easily. Worst case: glossy credit-card type material with dark print on a white background. Might need a second coat.
I've tried them on 6mm and 28mm model, and they worked well in either case. They combine well with drybrush and shading and washing techniques using other paints too.

This early German was painted with Foundation paints and normal wash and drybrush, for example.

It's a simulation style system which works best with a small ammount of players.

Hey Markconz, in the latest issue of Firebase (#5) has a campaign system for Epic that uses the Mighty Empires tiles.  Hope this helps! :)

I just got a bottle of Cathan Brown, and used it on my WIP Vituporator.  Worked pretty well.  I'll buy more.  :)

It's an old blog post actually - there's a pic of an Eldar (40K) chap painted with them.
So - tried them out yet?

Actually I haven't got them yet! Tourni organisers still have it all because I left immediately my last game finished to do some work :) Will pick it up next time I see them.

I've got a box of foundation. The most useful are the nechrite red, ilanden darksun and the one i don't remember the name which make a good undercoat for bones.
Those paint have a very big covering power, but it's quite hard to mix in the pot, you have to shake it a lot.
The second strange thing, is that they dry VERY quick, so use a lot of water.

For the mighty empire box, yes would be cool to find a cool epic campaign system.

I was at the one local hobby shops that carries a smattering of G/W (WHFB & 40K of course !) yesteday. That's where I got the Calthan Brown.  I have him ordering Orkhide and Tau Sept (I think that's what its called ?). I like the Calthan, so I'll use these paints. I used the Calthan on my F/W Epic Vituperator(Harridan), and was pleased with it ... Both the paint and the Bug ! :alien:
