Ok madness took over and I spent the entire day making two MK II Landraider crusaders for Hena's Scions List...  :O

Keen observers will note some interesting historical differences between these MK II's and the later MK III - notably quad rather than hex bolters in the sponsoons and no frag plates on the front... (yes, no more bolters would fit the MK II sponsoons, and I had had enough by the time I got to frag plates!  :p ).

But I'm happy with them, the goal just being to get something distinctly recognisable as a Crusader on a MK II hull

Construction pic a bit fuzzy sorry, but honestly I really would NOT recommend this conversion. Way too much nano scale filing to fractions of mm to get everything to fit. It was a complete nightmare, there is no way I'd make more than two of them!  There must be an easier way...

But anyway... details so you can share the pain:
Landraider hull, remove hatch and drill hole. Remove Heavy bolter. Remove front pegs on each side (and save for multimelta). Remove Lascannons from Sponsoons.

Additional bits used on each Cruasder were then:

Assault cannons - From 2 thunderbolts (they're supposed to have multilasers anyway...), so a pack of thunderbolts. Stuck where the heavy bolters were and a cover plate from green stuff.

Multimelta - I didn't have any spare, so E40k storm bolter hatch cut down. 2 E40k era ork heavy weapon ends filed down, glued together and stuck on the end. 2 Pegs from the side of the raider stuck on the sides of the gun as the fusion cells (and filed a bit).

Sponsoons - 4 E40k era stormbolter hatches. Cut down and filed delicately, 2 for each sponsoon stuck together then fitted into the sponsoon mount.

Very nice, Markco - and variants only help to add character. They look the part to a T. :) :) :)

Nice work Markconz.
If you have any spare squat trikes(melta) and plastic sentinels(assault cannons) that will reduce the work load.  :D

Mate, that is very cool.

I'm getting right into the Scions list aswell. Gotta get more LR's, Vindicators and Predators.

Good stuff MC!

I've never got around to making a Crusader myself but when the time comes this is definitel where I'll draw my inspiration. Beautiful work mate
...No where did I put those extra bolter hatches... :D

Very nice work.  My crusader is sitting in a box somewhere waiting for its armour plating to be finished.

For assault cannons I find 0.5mm rods stuck together in groups of 7 (2 on the top then 3 then the final 2) work a treat, and saves cutting up other models (which I always feth up).

Both look great Marko & red !  Nice work !  Which reminds me - I finished assembling and base coating red's SHT (treads from Tertius !) and Malcadors. Better get on those !  :)
