He's a cast based off of a conversion I did... I intend to do a fully-sculpted Hierodule at some point, but that'll be a much bigger project and won't be ready for months, if ever.

But I wanted a Hierodule now, damnit! :D

So yeah, he's not fully accurate to the FW beastie, but he is a good proxy for my army for now.

Looks good! I wonder how much more popular Epic would be if we just relied on fan-based creative input to produce the 'product' (rules and models) and GW production capacity? How expensive could it be to take some of these greens and whip off a few hundred metal copies? The end product wouldn't cost nearly as much. If an unpaid fan went to the trouble to sculpt a green on their own then there *must* be at least a some demand for the product.

The possibility of sculpting a decent chunk of the modern Tyranid range and then approaching SG had occured to me... but my sculpts aren't good enough for that to be honest.

I'm currently working on a very accurate carnifex model, which will have plug-on bits to make a CCfex, a Gunfex or a Bio-Cannonfex (A modern Exocrine).

I'm intending to rope a local or two into helping out with the resculpt project... at the worst we'll end up with a modern Tyranid range for use with our private collections.

Really?? This looks as good if not better than many items in the current Epic range.

Also you haven't stuck it's legs on backwards which is a big plus. Shame GW can't do the same with hydra tracks...   :D

That looks great!  Would love to have such nice looking beasties in my Nid army.

Moderately hard.

It uses 4 different molds:

- Body
- Legs
- Arms
- Head

The mold with the head in is the hardest to cast, as it has some crazy undercutting going on, followed by the legs.

The body is quite easy to cast as unlike the other pieces it has a large internal area which allows for proper flow & bubble release (Although as you can see on this particular cast the end of the tail and a piece of the shoulder had bubbles in them, but I fixed that up with Green Stuff).
