Hollow - wall thickness mainly 2mm, but buttresses are thicker.

I see; I think the walls should be able to withstand being half as thick, at least in FD, FUD and WSF... Especially if they are not meant to bear metal tanks on the top!

Disclaimer:
The following might sound a bit harsh - this is not intended it's just my lack of mastering the language.
It's the language barrier - not intent.

Hello Armand,
you might be right.

Please understand I have all the Bastions I need. I'm not really interested to invest time and/or money in something I do not need. And I have no plans to get rich by selling miniatures/terrain.

If I make the design available, ideally I just put the model up.
I do not want to optimize or spent otherwise time on it. And I'm very reluctant to invest 200$ to see what material is best and wether it prints, and I'm even more reluctant to spent money on a second 150$ print and to spent the time doing so just so that somebody else can save 2.50$.

You take pride and joy (probably even some money) from your shapeways shop (nice designs by the way) and most likely use the models yourself, but I'm coming from a different direction. I produce the models at home and if I put the model up, it will be only out of courtesy. So I want to do it with the least possible investment in time and money.

I'm sure you can do a nicer design and offer it for half the price, but as I said countless times before, I do not want to invest any more time and money into it, I prefer to spent both on the next project - and there is always a next project :)

As there seems to be some demand, you could design one and offer it in your shop - might be worth it.

Regards
SH

Hi there,

No offense taken; I was under the (wrong) assumption that you wanted to share the models with the rest of the community, and my comments were meant to be helpful, and were not meant to sound as "You have to do this and this and this!".

I agree with you, sharing models on shapeways is not an effective business model (in fact, my store doesn't even pay for the test prints that I have to make); personally, I just do it because I like to share what I make, and I'm glad I'm helping in keeping alive a game that I love.

This said, I completely understand your point of view, and I think you're doing some very interesting work.

Cheers!

You could always share the design files - that way if someone wants to go to the effort of getting them printable on shapeways for cheaper, they can. You could even put them up with a GPL-style license meaning any modifications must also be shared. Minimal effort for you but leaves the way open for everyone else too.

That is all predicated on the idea that you are comfortable giving away the fruits of your substantial labours!

Interesting... Are the pieces hollow or solid?

By my experience, for fortress walls White Strong and Flexible is good enough to give a rough, stony texture, while FD or FUD is necessary for a more clean, "metallic" finish...

I second Armands opinion. Sounds quite expensive. Printing a set and then casting for others would be the best option

These look great. I hope someone on forum could do something with these as would be shame to lose them from community.

Maybe try knocking on the door of Troublemaker Games or Onslaught? They both post here...

Yep ... But I'm betting he got a full plate making all his other armies ... Human PA types are pretty prevalent ... anyway ... I laud deacon' s predilection for making "New" types of figures, many alien ...

The Bastion found a home - sort off.

It's Wednesday, so I'm off to play Epic - more info about the fortress to be found on the homepage.
