Yep, you can tell by the thickness of the tracks and the general 'daintyness' compared to the GW metals.... may have to get me some when all my Eldar are finished!

Quote (Chris @ 12 2003 Nov.,16:42) | Very nice TS. Are those Chimera the original ones or the FW versions?
Cheers
Chris |
Thanks guys ?
The Chimeras are the FW ones. All the Chimeras in the force, plus the basilisk, LR destroyers, salamanders, fliers, trojans, and stormblades are all FW models.
The Manticores, Bombards, Leman Russ MBTs & Stormhammers are SMII era models
The Demolishers, infantry & Sentinels are E40K era models.
My hod-loads of E40K era armour will probably now go towards a speed(ish) painted Steel Legion army.
I'm abolishing my Chameleon X regiments as they simly take too long for little effect. I'll keep the Cityguard since they have a reasonable force & stand the best chance of oneday nearing completion, but I'll either sell or re-paint the other bits I've done (agri regiment & Tundra Regiment). Current plan is to have this Desert army finished by the end of November. By the End of December I want to have finished my small marine force for E:A, giving me two months to do an Ork force. After that I'll come back to the IG as & when I feel like it & do a SL army as well as doing a 'Nid force at last (I've never really completed one, but these Harridan's have made me determined!).
I'll never stick to it, but thats the plan as of yesterday's session with the army lists ?

Day 23, Wednesday 12th November - Progress is being made... I've managed to squeze in a bit more work today. I've been painting a Dwarf Regiment on Commission by day, but in spare seconds here and there, and an hour this evening I've: Got the second Lightning to the point where it just needs the white underside highlighted:
The Manticore company is now fieldable. Rockets on 2 batteries need white highlights & they all need red highlights & company markings, but these are details that will be fitted in amongst other things ?
And I've done the Super Heavy Transports. These arent being used as anything in the army, I just wanted to use the models as they've been sitting around since Salute '01! But because they're not really that important, they did get rather rushed & I'm not too happy with them.

And we havent had a "whole force update in a while, so I took this shot:

Having taken & edited it for posting, however, I have realised that there are almost 20 vehicles missing from the shot as they're on boards downstairs having just ben undercoated.
Oh well, no time to correct it - Me & Nick have 3 pubs to get to tonight!
Next in line to get painted: 3 Leman Russ Destroyers & 3 Basilisk. Also the last 9 Chimeras which will be used for a step by step guide to painting "The Desert Ferrin".
Aim to be completed by the End of November - Challenge set!

Another 20 vehicles! I am loving this force!
Plus, in this view, your "stand in" Leviathan looks big enough to be a Capitol Imperialis!
Cheers

Well, not in shot there is: 8 Chimeras for the second mechanised infantry company at the back (the one on the right id the Regimental HQ), 3 Trojans, 3 LR Destroyers, 3 Basilisk & 2 Marauders. So 17 vehicles and 2 Large bombers to be accurate ? I've decided I really like painting vehicles in the desert camo scheme!

| You're probably right about the Ogre being CI sized. But I thought the Leviathan was going to be in one of the tournament lists whereas the CI was itself a stand in Leviathan for Tournament play which would all get rather confusing in an army list....
All said and done, I'm coming to the conclusion that I dont actually like it & I may dispense of it when I complete the army & sort out its final details. (Anyone want to buy a painted OGRE if I decide to go that route?)

I love the 1st edition Bombards! So much, in fact, that I just ordered some from the GWUS archive service.

Hi!
Is the model big enough to represent a gorgon though?

Days 24 - 27, 13th-16th November - Days of the Visit
Sorry guys, not much to report. Work & Ventures on Thursday meant not much got done. Combined with a suprise Visit on Friday from Helen (my GF) who came back from Uni for a few days & I've been mildly distracted by more, shall we say, "social" activities ?
I had, as ever, got big plans to get the final chunk done & of course this hasnt happened.
All I've managed is to highlight the rockets on 3 Manticores, and do the brown stages on 3 Destroyers, 3 basilisk & 3 Trojans.
Not very interesting and I'm afraid not really worth a photo either. I'm gardening Mon-Wed this week & might be out every evening as well (not if I can avoid it though! They're not great invites...) so it looks like a quite week. My appologies for slacking ?
The force, with the possible exception of 3 Stormblades & the marauders, WILL be done by December 1st, so at some stage?soon I guess I'll have some more interesting updates for you all (even if it does mean a day or two of not painting stuff for sale!)
