Best thing to do is look keep the rules and look to other companies/parties that provide good (if not better) alternatives ;)

and for the few extra bits you can't escape from getting at GW see if friends/family will post from UK for you?

If only someone in the UK could buy the items at UK prices and then add actual postage costs for an order. Of course the other option is stop buying their stuff which is a great shame..current GW epic armageddon items aren't actually listed that often. Older versions are more readily available. I have been after the current vindicators for some time. Plenty of older versions.

If you pay me the money upfront I don't mind putting an order in for what you want and shipping them across to you (though personally I prefer the nicer sleepy cows with the arrows scraped off). Ditto for you Onyx or your mate that wants/wanted the IG army. I wouldn't want to make money off it, but I wouldn't want to loose money either.

I'd imagine this sort of thing will be going on a lot more now.

It is truly sad how much we have to find new avenues to buy stuff, that we would buy direct from the company if they would
A. Charge Reasonable Shipping
B. Not have DRASTICALLY different prices from Country to Country
C. Not continue to Jack up the prices, even though they are switching to a process where the materials are cheaper

it is too bad GW has become what it has become, a bunch of Dwarfs purely devoted to profit

Went to GW today to pick up a mail order and was talking to the local blueshirt, so take this with as much salt as you require. He told me that metal models are NOT being kept in stock. They will be sent back to HQ, melted down, and the pewter itself sold off. This is happening at the end of this month.

Again, just what I heard.

I'm well aware that these news are sad news for many people, but it's the same for me, haven't bought a GW product new in blister for ages.

GW are never in a million years going to bring back Specialist Games anyway, but it will be interesting to see how this change will affect the national 40k and WHFB communities like ours here in Denmark as well as others like our compadres down under...

Quoting this from another site:

Hey guys, well here is a list of kits coming out in resin on the 28th of May. It looks like GW has used this as a chance to increase prices even further. Price increases ranging from 30p to a few pounds in general, or 2.5-25%

For the price of a treeman I can take my wife out to dinner in Central London (I live in W2 so it doesn't get much more expensive than that) including 12.5% tip. LOL

No on ebay postage to Australia is usually between 2.50 pound and 8 pound on a larger order. Quite reasonable really. It does explain why some ebay bids exceed the buy new price from GW. The exchange rate plus the lower postage means you can bid higher than the brand new price and still be well in front of the Australian price. The problem is that current GW epic armageddon items aren't actually listed that often. Older versions are more readily available. I have been after the current vindicators for some time. Plenty of older versions.

This corresponds with my experience selling on ebay: a fairly disproportionate amount of my sales have been shipped down under.

Sneaky Grandma. By inflating prices down under they keep ebay prices artificially high too, limiting competition!

I'm done with GW. Starting to transition my paint to Coat d'arms and I note today they do washes and an acrylic dip style product, so my final need for a devlan mud replacement has been sourced!

I've got more Epic than I want to contemplate to paint, and in conjunction with all my other gaming piles I don't need them.

I do feel sorry for anyone that wants to get into epic, but wants to use stuff that will match their 40K collections.

Apart from eldar i think the proxies available (or will soon be available) are better than what they produce anyway (with the exception of forgeworld :) too ).

And cheaper.

And where it isn't cheaper, much better.

Just an update for our friends outside of the UK and North America: I spoke to a retailer I trust about the licensing agreement for North American retailers, and he informs me that US and Canadian retailers CAN sell items to people in other areas. He does, however, recommend purchasing from the US (despite being Canadian himself) because their shipping rates and reliability are miles better than those of Canada Post (which I can attest to).

So find yourself a US retailer that sells Specialist stuff and enjoy your stronger dollar! If you can't find one that is any good in the US, I can recommend a good Canadian retailer that offers 10% off Cdn retail on Specialist stuff.
