Thanks!

Well Reedar will be glad to know I have finally painted something again...

....a whole 2 miniatures. They are test pieces though!

Having finished these and taking these photos to examine them properly I have realised two quite important things. I am used to 28mm painting and should probably be using harsher shadows on the infantry as I think they will just blur out to a mess of vague colours from any kind of distance. I've seen about the Winsor and Newton nut-brown ink and may give it a go. Also I have chosen to do the steel legion in their traditional mustard yellow coats and the death guard are also in an off white. Neither of them stand out very well in the test shots I did against the basing scheme I had originally intended for them. I may reexamine how to do the bases and make them darker and may also change my legion of choice to either sons of horus or raven guard. I just really like the MKIII armour and originally wanted a legion that made heavy use of it. I'll try out doing a MKIII legionnaire in most of the legions different colour schemes and see which is best.

They look pretty sweet to me mate. Don't forget that 6mm minis have a 'multiplying' effect, and that while one man might look lost against a base, a strip of 5 models will look cohesive and more defined...
Would suggest doing a whole stand and see what you think then?

Thanks all!

You're probably right, I should do a full stand of 5 before I make my mind up. However I couldn't be bothered to fire up the airbrush tonight so instead did some more mini conversions. I was trying to recreate some of the poses for the classic steel legion minis and I think half succeeded, though I had to change what I had in mind for some of them originally. You know it's getting silly when you're using partially dry superglue to sculpt with!

Another tiny update tonight while I procrastinate over painting again.

Made a radio guy to go with the rest of the command squad.
