Well Mark, when reading the book that gave me inspiration for an Ulthwe army, it had the Shinning Spears in white and their temple was the same. Brilliant white armour on the warrior. I cant remember what the book was though. I read it at the start of my tour and have sent it home so I cant tell you. But I think that them being a marked contrast isnt that bad. Maybe as they are painted on the GW website accept highlighted with midnight blue stripes is an idea.

From your description of the book it was Eldar Prophecy.  I have it so I can have a look.  I done Kim's in white armour on blue bikes from memory.

It was Goto's Warrior Coven, a Deathwatch novel.

Is it a good book?  I will have to give it a read.  I was doing my Exarch's based on characters in Eldar Prophecy as I thought that was the book Aaron was talking about.

This is what distracted me from my painting efforts tonight.

My HPI Hellfire required a replacement engine.

Kim was stoked when I got into a new hobby because she was sure it would take up lots of my time and I would cut down on the gaming stuff, thinking it would be much cheaper.  Little did she know.  Keeping a RC car running can be a pain in the arse and a time consuming and expensive exercise.

This was the offending part that failed and cost me over $200 for a new engine and hours of work to fix.

I took the opportunity to swap from a pull start to an electric starter while I had it all apart and added a transponder to record my lap times when I am racing.  Hopefully I will be able to get the engine broken in over the next few days so I can have a bit of a race with my brothers in law when they drive up for the weekend.

I bet she figured out quickly that no hobby is ever cheap - and just because you have two doesn't mean you'll spend less on either.

I'm loving the eldar man, keep it up. You've definitely made it my goal to convert some of my own exarchs.

I read a lot of Black Library books last year (around 27 I think...), Warrior Coven was alright but not the best.  I'd rank Eldar Prophecy and Deathwatch as better novels by Goto.

On the golden Warp Spider, Naois was supposed to be the Warp Spider Phoenix lord.  Was the player planning on using that stand as the Autarch?

Very nice Mark

It is good to take a break and clear the head. Two hobbies, how do you get away with that? And yes Warrior Coven was the inspiration for the army. Hope you get it run in by the weekend and get a few races in.

Cheers
Aaron

I like the white look, here are my Biel Tan ones - photo not the best but you get the idea...:

My riders actually have black armour and red helmets. My my aspects are all in whites, reds and blacks based on some of the Aspects shown in the Swordwind book. I liked the idea of having a consistent theme to them. eg:

Nice on your Eldar army Markconz.  Thanks for that its good to have a look at all sorts of different options.

Nope Exarch, I don't think you can even take an Autarch in the Ulthwe list.  Oops, maybe one of the Exarchs just modeled themselves after Naois and went for the same armour colour.  As a Pheonix lord then I guess he would go on the base with the Avatar in an Epic army.

Good grief, how did that piston head break? Looks like it was either defective, or something blocked movement of the piston REALLY badly.

Two hobbies, I raise the stakes and claim 6.... :)
Loving the Eldar; pic of the (assembled) Hellfire, please? :)

I think it was defective it only lasted a couple of days.  Unfortunately I spent half the evening trying to unsuccessfully break the new engine in so I won't get much painting in.  Having trouble getting the new motor to actually run...... painting is so much more relaxing.  RC cars are turning out to be a pain in the but.

The car......

and the only thing I have finished tonight...

Overwatch counters.

The theory behind this is that despite not having scouts in a list they are bound to be all over the battle field sneaking around and scoping out the enemy.   Just not in combat effective unit sizes.  So who best to keep a lookout when a unit is on overwatch but the nearest scout.
