Need to pack my paints away again for now, but i got a bit more paint on my titans over the week (a game of adeptus titanicus was good motivation).

Still plenty to do on these – in a number of places (espec the weapons) i've just slapped one shade of paint on with no highlight or shade. However, the reavers have heads now … which helps. And there's enough guns for all the titans to have one per hard-point.

question: anyone got some basing ideas for these guys?
I wan't to avoid snow, as they are already a bit (unintentionally) 'christmas colour scheme' themed.
(no, mike, they are not going on resin skull bases …)

I've shown the warlord before, but i thought a few of you here might like seeing some of the rarer (mk2) titan weapon versions in use:

Sand? Good old desert could do the trick.

Sand would work, nice and simple (which is the point with my titans, fast to get to table) but you and elsmore have gone and got me interested in fancy basing!

I think something desert themed with small wind carved rock shapes (think American southwest in old road runner cartoons / John Wayne movies). They're super easy to make as you simply drop round cust flat shapes stacked on each other to make the rock shapes. You purposely don't need to not even cut them too close in shape and using varying thickness gives the appearance of various rock layers. Finally a use for that scrap the plasticard or mdf laying around.

Obviously not as cartoonish as presented in the above but you get the idea hopefully. The height differences are nice visually and then opening the palate up for stone and sand colors (tan and green tinted varieties) and some slate should really make those titans pop.

Interesting. I enjoy the word 'hoodoo' as well. A desert theme (with some rocky stuff, maybe some shaped dunes as well) is growing on me. Concern would be high contrast (though if they were black i wouldn't mind, dark green and sand though, hmhmhm), especially for weathering.

Purple! alien world with purple sand!

Was also thinking about jungle clearing sort of bases like largo's/my catatchans. Brown in a slightly brighter tone than the titan green, with some much brighter undergrowth.

*edit: hmm, this is a nice colour: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GwXVl2xxQr0/U ... C04957.jpg

Oh shizzle! Use the rock outcropping idea above but down below in all the cracks and valleys fill it with thick jungle. That's EXACTLY the type of thing you see up on the sides of highland plateau in Kauai.

Use bright vibrant green as the underbrush against a light reddish tan rock layer. If you've never been to the islands I cannot explain just how vibrant the color differences are in the jungle there. Dark titans against the lush under growth should work well I expect.

If you note the rock strata are very visible from kilometers away. I think the layering would work very easily.

Love them! I think they'd look really cool with a swamp or marsh theme.

I can't attend the EUK mega-battle this year, but had said i'd provide some bunkers. Then realised around dinner time today that due to christmas post delays and my own schedule for the week I needed to post them to kyussinchains tomorrow morning … which was fine except they weren't painted …

… so now they are painted! (kinda, as long as you only look at them from the front :spin )

(white glue still drying behind the grass)

Hope to get some more interesting defensive structures painted during the coming holiday, more on that later :)

My only worry with desert sand is that it might make the green and red look brighter in contrast, and you’re already worried about a Christmasy look. I’d go with concrete in a cool gray – it’ll make the green look bluer.
