According to my research (!), Gutrippas have claws and Bonecrunchas/breakas have rollers ! We use them as mine plows/rollers to clear mines and obstacles !

Almost forgot: superb models Jimbo. What kind of wash did you use on the yellow battlewagons?

Base coat, desert yellow then a wash of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown and water.
The paint stops the ink being too glossy, a tip I picked up from Carl (nowhere to be seen) Woodrow.

Hi!
Thats what I find most difficult about painting, the "mixing" to get the right color or tone. I'd imagine theres a lot of trial and error unless you get helpful hints.

True. It is really difficult to explain exactly what consistency and colour tome a certain paint should have to get a certain effect. I often mix many different types of paint, water, glue, washing liquid, letting paint dry on brushes -even roomm temperature!- etc. to get the result I want. You often just have to try it out to know how it works. It's never an exact science. Try it out and see what works for you.
Cheers!

The beauty of Orks is that there is no need for consistency and sometimes a mistake turns out really well.
I painted one of the Gunwagons in Bleached Bone, expecting the dark wash to add a nice touch, however it contained too much Chestnut ink so it looked awful wet. However when it dried it just looked great, really rusty.
I'll get a picture done to show what I mean.

With a final drybrush to tone down the wash and accentuate the detail...

I have finished my Forgeworld Epic Ork Bommerz.

I did think about adding some more detail and glyphs, but thought at this small scale it may not work well, and I was pleased with the models as is. I have some metal conversions hanging around which I may try some yellow flames on.
I probably will get some more of these models.
You can see and read the full story of how I painted these models on my WorkBench Page for these models.
