With illuvitar's permission, and if my refinement doesn't work, I will fill in the two tines with non-hardening clay. This will make a 'mitten', but allow for an easy mold and cast.

hey do what u gotta do.. and that mold is crazy  :O  :p

Otterman, I'm in awe of your work here. Thanks for taking the time mate, I'm really looking forward to the outcome (so are my Iron Warriors :) )

Sorry, forgot to mention that I did the first half of the pour last night. I will have some more free time this evening and Saturday morning, so we should have results (for good or ill) by Saturday afternoon.

I also started another leg mold.

And thanks for your encouraging words. It's easy to get whipped (i.e. discouraged) by a reluctant mold.

To prep a mold for something like this takes about an hour. For a 28mm high single piece figure (e.g. a Knight), about 30 minutes. For an arm, about 10 minutes.

No obvious problems when mold re-separated. Test pour completed, waiting for resin to cure.

I call this stage 'proofing', where I inspect the resin and air flow. The first 1 to 3 casts always fail while I refine the channels.

Here's a picture of the claw mold pre-pour, from last night:

I never realized how technical the process is.

One part of the mold has produced a complete claw. Still working on the other claw's air flow.

In the meantime, I'm going to 'mitten up' the claws and cast them that way. This will provide better throughput and add variety.

Other claw airflow is still being problematic - but only 1 tine to go!

Also poured first half of mitten claw mold, and half of a mold for .

Claw mold is starting to produce decent results.

Poured other half of mitten claw mold, and half a mold for that mysterious guy's mysterious thingy.
