Also the crabe is regrettably not 1:5 scale (It's 1:4.6 ?), and although it serves as a good proof of capability, Forgeworld won't want to buy that particular model.

With them being computer-done models isn't it quite a simple matter to resize all and print off another copy? If they were interested and if O-man wanted to.

Assuming all the details print properly, yes.

But as it is, not much more than "This is a concept Defiler, printed at a larger scale" can be said; Forgeworld aren't interested in any model that isn't a 1:5 scale replica of the Warhammer 40,000 model.

Ah, yes. Forge World (and GW) - complete sticklers about accurate scale... :oo:

All in good time.

I prefer to hit them with a dozen models all at once, instead of scattergunning them one at a time.

Also the crabe is regrettably not 1:5 scale (It's 1:4.6 ?), and although it serves as a good proof of capability, Forgeworld won't want to buy that particular model.

I hope I'm not going to get sued for damages. The profits from the crabe were meant to propagate to the next project, but sadly went to my root canal. Crappy dental insurance.

I do hope that will never happen and Ouch! Root canals are not fun, I had to have one done myself years back (after being assaulted by some ‘friendly’ local on my way home from work one day). I’m just glad I live in a country that provides massively subsidised dental treatment. Hope you/it are all better now!

For the little it helps I will be buying a couple more crabs; having decided to convert an overtly Emperor’s Children and Thousand Sun crab to go along with the general ones for each power, for when I use them with those Chaos Legions. I'm really itching to get converting and painting them, but have to spend all my time and efforts with Adorno for the foreseeable future.

Yes, I accept that I screwed the ratios on the tankette and crabe, due to both active and passive neglect. Active in the sense that I needed a bigger 'canvas' to put in what I felt to be essential detail, and passive in the failure to take the design from the 4:1 to 4.67:1 ratio.

And now, on to the future. I checked the casts of the most recent Gorgonzola, and they come in at 52mm long. The stated length of the Gorgon is 13.9m, yielding a ratio of 1/270. That's closer than previous attempts.

The FW chimera chassis is 21mm, and compared to the IA stated length of 6.9m, that yields a ratio of 1/330.

FW strictly scale 1:5 from the 40k model, not the background stated length (all of those are somewhat larger than the model really is in 40k IIRC). Like really strictly ; I once had the designer of the 40k scale Gorgon giving me the third degree about how accurate I'd tried to be with my scratchbuild Epic version (I think it's pretty close to 1:5 as it happens, but didn't own a Gorgon to make 100% certain)... and that was just a crappy prototype!

On the chance that FW do decide to return to Epic proper (and not just Titan Legions) they'll never take any models that aren't 1:5 scale from the 40k model.

The Canon SD1100 IS is a great value for macro work going for around $140 at Costco.

Prints due today.

Camera not purchased. Need to evaluate costs from metal caster first.
