Quote (Jimbo @ 17 Oct. 2005 (15:46)) | In what way are the rules different? | Among other things the 1st addition had:
- A time limit per turn for the Termie player - Rules for psychic powers - Flamers torched a whole tile section in one shot. - Rules for the various weapons Termies could use - The dice had pips, not symbols
I'm sure there are other rule differences, but these were all i could think of of the top of my head.

Quote (primarch @ 17 Oct. 2005 (15:14)) | Hi!
The minis in second edition space hulk are much, much better than those of first edition, but I like the first edition rules more.
Primarch | I have to agree with you here too. The 2nd Ed also had really gorgeous tile sections... I'm planning to put together a set of Travel Space Hulk when I have the time. Using Epic Termies and Genestelers with magnetic bases... I need to find a steel case for it. Then I will print out maps for the main 6 missions.
At the moment however I'm working at getting a Epic Board together. It's getting there. I have about 10 foot of river. 3 hills, 2 lots of trees, some scrubland and a couple of silos and warehouses. But this doesn't feel like enough scenery for a 6x4 board, though we did have a really fun game yesterday... I've got 3 pieces of industrial chemical plant on the go at the moment. I might enter one in the terrain part of the Epicomp if it comes out nice, though I doubt it will win.

Hi!
DS, points out the main differences. The changing of how the flamer template worked, to me is a MAJOR change of how the rules worked and "felt". Also the time limit on the Termie player made for a quite entertaining game.

Primarch | Agreed, the change in flamer rules was a big difference, perhaps the most significant. I, too, like the time limit since it made for a more exciting game.

I have been trying to finish the stairwell before the stairs arrive (noon tomorrow) and I'll have to disassemble my temporary scaffolding. Does anybody have a set of swooping hawk wings I can borrow...?
What? I'm supposed to tell about my mini projects? What are those, anyway? Can I eat them?

I agree with Marconz. I prefer first edition, but second edition is not as bad as the howls make it sound. There are some interesting, and better, rules. I prefer the use of the flamer in second edition, but the use of sustained fire in first edition.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to make it sound like the second edition was bad. I prefer to play the first edition rules, but I do like the the flamer rules in the second edition. It's nice being able to target more than one tile with the flamer.
I agree with Markconz, both editions are great games!

Hi!
Hehe, good thing your in polite company.
Mention casting parts, even for conversions on some other lists I have seen and they'll call you the devil/Hitler and the anti-christ all rolled into one...

Just goes to show how much GW's IP enforcement is getting out of hand. To scratch build a part you are going to use in a conversion and cast it is IP infringement (sp?) if you call it a "Defiler" claw for instance. Reason: You are using a GW trademarked name for somehting that is not a GW product! Sily if you ask me but logic has nothing to do with it.
Casting is an important part of the wargames hobby. In the old days people would cast their own stuff. It s only when miniature production became big business that this has become a big Nono. When it is taken to the level where people can't even discuss casting methods without getting kicked I think the line for what's reasoable has been breached. There's definitely a big moral difference between making mould of something of your own making, which may include a part or two from a known manufacturer, for home use and then mass producing copies to sell for profits. However when it comes to the legal implications things are much more complicated.
Cheers!
