Man you are leaving my thread to shame. Where the hell do you find the time?

That scorpion king is fully sick! I love it!  Now that you have raised the bar, I am going to be losing sleep trying to top that one.  :)

1000 points of juggers huh? I am thinking you have a list made up very similar to mine. Yet your progress is far ahead of me so no doubt you will test it first. The different flags for the different squads is a very good idea. I was thinking of cutting all the flags off, yet your examples may inspire me to keep them now...

Those slaughterfiends look interesting. If they turn out anything like the Scorpion king, they are going to be awesome.

Hat off tyo you my good man   :D    You took all the abuse and posturing I could dish out and thourally spanked me in the contest. I concede.

Awesome work overall   :agree:

Oh-four-hundred. That's the key. Once you realize that, great things can happen.

John Grisham was a full time lawyer. He wanted to do something different. He got up earlier than normal and started writing. I think the extra hours of sleep he gave up have more than been compensated for.

Come on. We're going to cross the finish line together. This isn't a race, it's a combat operation and you're part of the K-team.

Besides, What Would Khorne Do?

Nobody puts Khorne in a corner!

Great work Honda.

I thought the very same thing. In fact I was getting ready to remove them when the thought popped in my head and I started to wonder if I could pull that off.

Plus I wanted an easy way to distinguish the various formations and this made that pretty easy. Prior to working the flags I was left with doing various color combinations on the juggers.

I kind of like how this turned out a little better...besides, I still have some other juggers left over to fiddle around with should the desire arise.

Looking very cool Jim  :D

What are the heads on the Slaughterfiends made from?

I actually had to go back to to the pics and look at what you were referring to, because I didn't think of them as "heads" per se. LOL

I wanted to easily distinguish between the Defilers (well, besides the arms) and the Slaughterfiends, so I stuck some of the few Bloodletters I have on top.

After I did that, my first thought was, "Look, they've got hood ornaments!"

My intention is to paint them a sort of glowey red/orange to help them stand out a bit from the rest of the model. We'll see how that goes.

Currently, I have drybrushed the entire model Boltgun, applied Badab Black wash on most of the metal parts. Next I'll start building up the layers of red, though I think I am going to have what painted areas there are rather chipped and weathered. For some reason, the idea of pristinely painted Chaos vehicles just doesn't sound right to me, especially considering the nature of the Defiler/Slaughterfiend, so I'm going to strive for a pretty scraggly look.

Hopefully it won't look like I just dragged them through the dirt for a couple of miles.  :glare:

I heartily agree. Chaos stuff always looks better to me when it's battered, weathered and rusted/decayed.

I've been having some fun with some Otterware today aswell (pics up tomorrow)!

Keep the photos coming mate  :D

@Steve: I can't tell you how motivating/demoralizing your IW Defiler is. That one pushes the bar pretty far up there. Really looking forward to your pics.

I love your take on Juggers. Proliferous and excellent painting. You paint a Khorne army faster than I can recall you ever starting one. What happened to your Tau?

Oh, they're still around. I finished them (well to the extent that any army is finished) awhile back and I just added a few extra formations and some air assets to round things out.

As our Epic group continues to grow (picked up a new guy this week with PAINTED armies  :agree: ) I think we're on the verge of something good. At some point I may consider doing a Honda version of Onyx's "My Armies" thread.

Thanx for the C&C everyone!

Cheers,

Ok, here's a few in-flight shots of this formation. Basically, I've applied Beastial Brown in areas and I will use this as the base to build up the red. I really can't compliment O-man enough on his crabs, they are beautiful models.

Here goes...

I guess the other thing that I should mention is that my vision for the "flails" on the Slaughterfiends is that they will look like bronze metal tentacles, whose tips will end up kind of a glowey, power weapon green, if you are familiar with how 40K painters treat power weapons.

Anyway, that's the idea, we'll see how that goes. The troops will be done up in a bronze, similar to the juggers and I will attempt to pick out the skull faces on a few of the troops, especially the stand that is supposed to represent the Skull Lord.

Cheers,
