Well, not really. More 'that's a bit odd; not how I'd have thought of doing it and I can't immediately see the advantage of doing it that way, so I'm interested to see how it comes out and to learn why you decided on that approach'.

Well I think it's shaping up nicely. Inspired by Radek's army by any chance? Blended blue to green at the back, with snow bases :)

I distinctly remember it being awesome at Minigeddon, the blending is just something I could never accomplish. So in other words, if you continue along this route, the army is going to look awesome.

I prefer to think that I just started later than Radek..... although in all honesty his army was what inspired me to choose mymeara... (you may recall my somewhat insane plan of a year or so ago to paint distinct Biel-Tan, Iyanden, Ulthwe and Saim-Hann armies....)

Glad ppl like it, I'm really enjoying the colour palette as well as avoiding all washes and drybrushing (for now at least!) Gonna try to get this geezer finished off tonight/tomorrow, then might finish the falcons and start the guardians (can't put the infantry slog off forever eh?)

Thanks for the comments guys :)

there probably isn't an advantage really, I think it's just the way my brain works, start dark and build up.... with the falcon I added the panel lines after and it was a bugger on the edges of the panels, was hoping this method would help me avoid having to slap loads of paint on to cover it up.....

I'm loving that stark panel lining, mate. Glorious.
Another technique to get that post painting and highlighted to seal your mini in gloss and then use enamels/oils to wash the panel lines. You can just touch the brush to the line and capillary action will pull it right into the recess on its own. Best part is that you can wipe/brush any overspill off without any effect on the underlying color (unlike with acrylics).

Awesome panel lines, Kyuss. I really like the way that came out.

If I had only known this before...

Still not finished the void spinner but on the home straight now... glad I only have a pair of each SHT left to paint :/ it seems the much larger panel size translates to it taking exponentially longer than the falcon
