You've mentioned a few pages back that the shoulder mounts are manouvreable & that the armour plates are seperate from the main hull in order to accomodate this, but with them so tight to the central hull, I fail to see how they can move? There seems to be no space for them to do so, seperate pieces or not.... what am I missing?

Great work though - this is truly inspiring & a nice mix of the styles. Just being overly picky. Anyone who used to read my FW reviews will know what I'm like...

I actually prefer the less bulky version, that one looks like a giant Space Marine-inspired robot, the other  looks more Titaney.

I tend to agree but obviously that comparison also has something to do with the shape of the outmost shoulder armor.

Jon,

My comments aline with Tuffskull mate, I would like to see some more room around the carapace weapon mounts. With the proximity of the armour there I doubt that the weapons would be able to pivot. It may pay to remove some armour from the outside to allow the weapons to move laterally.

Looking great, love your work.
Cheers
Aaron

So the idea for the shoulders is to design them to fit scout-class rather than Battle-class weapons?, would it perhaps be possible to swing something like having the housing removable so that you can fit larger battle-class weapons in?

Already mentioned this is the intention earlier in this thread.

I think your proportions are off - the upper leg section is too big and bulky compared to how small and not much bigger as a whole the lower leg piece is. If you look at any other Warlord or Reaver Titan the lower leg is a decent bit bigger than the upper, but that's not really true here. Could you select the whole of the upper leg area and scale it down some?

Been considering something like this myself, will play around with proportions tomorrow.

I’ve just worked out what I dislike about the body design – it’s that the under head body armour section is the same size as the top body armour, making it look like a walking egg (like the old Eldar War Walkers), or as though it has breasts/flab under there.

If you look at the Mars Reaver it has the under head plate smaller and fitting just inside the upper armour plate, which is bigger and juts out more, a design style I think looks a lot better personally.

The shoulder pieces are concepts at the moment, they'll be finalised so they have movement, fit all the weapons and are removable when more of the appropriate weapons are constructed.

I'm sure everyone's noticed that the arm weapons are currently floating in mid air. there will be arms to attach them as well.

Here's the robot with that under-body piece of armour removed. If I remember to post the pic this time:

I have a comment about the hips...

What if you made the hip disks thicker, but with a slightly reduced diameter. If the idea is to make them look beefier, then thicker is better than having a larger diameter. As things increase in weight, support structures have to increase in cross-section faster than they increase in height. That's why hippo and elephant legs look so squat, even if they are as long or longer than a horse's legs.

I definatley prefer it with the extra chest armour, one of my biggest dislikes of my plastic mars is the dire lack of chest armour.

Just in awe of this entire project. :O
I wish I was as adept at this whole 3d stuff as you and the other excellent computer designer guys.  I'd just like to add in my 2 cents and say that I really like the WMN style, split carapace approach, and would like to see more along that avenue.

Thanks,
CF

On this pic the pieces highlighted in yellow are the "thigh" section of this robot. With the exclusion of the discs that rotate at the bottom, these pieces would in effect be a single solid construction, the only place they can move is around the "axel" of the hip.
I'm happy with these joints, they're not going to change.

The under-body armour, would it work better if the little piece under the head was extended down to cover the front of the waist?

The addition of the groin armour goes a long way in getting my thumbs up. :agree:

What if the carapace weaponry armour were an 'L' turned on it's side? The tops and outermost part of the weapon would be covered but no armour on the 'inside' (towards the body)

That is basically what it is now:
