Oh from 1/280 to 1/285 there IS a difference. But i don't know if the difference is as big as in the picture.

Well Epic was called 1/300 ... so 1/285 shouldn't be too far off ... But like the man said ... some ones ideas are different about what is 1/285 ... ?And that is true ... Epic is now closer to 8mm ? ? Scale Creep ?!?! ?GHQ has some nice stuff but as I said, both men and machines are a bit small for Epic. Unless you are going to do some creative converting ... :)    And great pics O-man, very informative ...  And makes the size differences bit more clear ...

Have you ever compared 1/72 to 1/84 (H0 railroad model scale)? The vehicles are almost a cm bigger in 1/72.

And i have compared the dimensions of the SG LandRaider with the numbers given in IndexAstartes. My calculations say that Epic is exactly 1/280

Supposedly, yes, 1/285. But as you can see, someone's idea of 1/285 is different than someone else's.

Given GHQ's detailing. ?I can make a guess as to who's scale creeping... ?I suppose the other factor is that they're pretty stuck in one scale because their line is so extensive.

GHQ stuff is just great. ?There's a reason there a lot of "like GHQ" minis listed on Fleabay...

Of course 1/300 should be smaller than 1/285...  I suspect another reason to creep upward toward 1/240 or so would be to get away from GHQ..  Rhinos would be awful hard to sell with GHQ's M113s as competition.

It's interesting to note that GHQ miniatures and Baccus Command Horizon Sci-fi miniatures are of a similar scale. I'd guess that although there is still no explanation as to how 10 marines can get inside a Rhino, GW Epic vehicles are to a larger scale - except perhaps for the old models such as the Capitol Imp, the old Thunderbrick, the Ordinati etc. And the titans work better if scaled to GHQ and Baccus stuff - they look much more impressive!

The Brigade Models stuff also scales much better to GHQ than to GW.  I bought one of each of a bunch of their line a while back to see it in person;  very nice stuff, and significantly smaller than the Epic models.  Fits well with the Renegade Legion plastics.

Great pic, thanks, "r" !  And again, it appears, the bigger the GHQ AFV, the closer it is to Epic scale ... whatever that is ?!

It's whatever GW says.

Great pics. I had no idea Ragnarok was _that_ big.

Epic is "Heroic 6mm", like 40K is "Heroic 28mm".  :)

Thanks for the pics, O-man. Unfortunately, the Ragnorak is signicantly bigger than a KV-2. Bummer.
