The rockets are actually off of the plastic whirlwinds.  I just clipped the points off the end and mounted them on thier side.

Pre-heresy always confuses me.

First there was Rogue Trader.  In this the Emperor was already in his golden throne and we had those beaky space marines, about 60 of which are still in my cupboard making up my first and only 40k army.

Then the heresy started with Adeptus Titanicus* (I was there, I fought valiantly for both sides, mainly with plastic Warlords between polystyrene buildings using the infantry rules from WD.)  This used mainly RT based armies at first and, during the first Epic golden age, units that were added to Epic crossed back over to 40k.

Then the heresy ended with the fight between the Emperor and Horus in the original Lost and the Damned book.  Subsequently the Emperor ended up in the golden throne - that's to say where we started with RT.

Now time has marched on in real and game worlds and we are now in the post heresy era but things are very different to what they were last time we were post heresy (which was pre heresy in real world chronology).   Added to which we have revisionist statements like the one in the Chaos codex that says that jump packs weren't that common before the Chaos legions went rogue so Raptor numbers are limited, same with storm bolters, when both were standard equipment for traitor legions during the heresy and post heresy RT!

And that's just what I know without reading any books, CCG's, White Dwarfs and the like for over ten years.

So, what type of pre-heresy army are we on about here...

I like the hunters, too.

As for Razorbacks, in case you're wondering, they weren't actually introduced into epic until SM2. Meaning, they didn't exist in AT, which occurs during the Horus Heresy. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I would personally leave them out if I were building a pre-Heresy army.

I am doing my army during the time before the Heresy, when all the chapters were pretty loyal. ?That is except for the Word Bearers which I think always were a little corrupt.

Yep, and as D/S pointed out PH SMs would probably only have SM1 Models ...
