Thanks for all the replies.  I've been working on the infantry today, basing marines doesn't feel as mind destroying as guard.  :p .

So far I have got one unit of choosen men (tacticals without missile launchers but a free "chaplain") and have all the assault boys off the sprue and I am now repositioning the arms (why O why am I doing this?).  Once I have got them all done I will post a pic or two.

I'm also hoping to make a pair of assault cannon AA units tonight as well.

TRC:  the assault cannons are 0.5mm plastic rods glued together in groups of 7 and cut to size.

hotwire: I will probably do a tutorial when I make the next one (I need fourin total) so I can have pics of each stage.

Well I spent the weekend at GW painting epic infront of everyone. ?Telling everyone how good the game is, basic rule mechanics and generaly shoving epic in their faces ?:D

Now the results.

first off a group shot of everyone I have been working on and a few extra who are joining in the fun


Next the grumpy old men. ?My 5 dreads. ?


Whilst posing them for the shot I have realised why marines are not allowed dread formations. ?It isn't the worry about losing them all. ?It is the fact that it involves getting half a dozen, thousand year old men together. ?They will spend the entire battle complaining about how orks arn't the right shade of green or how they don't explode porperly anymore when you hit them with a Krak missile. ?:p

Third pic my two tactical detachments and my Chosen men (marines don't have forlorn hopes they have the lucky buggers who get to be first).


At the moment the chosen men have Rhinos and razorbacks, eventually they will have a pair of crusaders to get them to the pub... err I mean the enemy.

Now the fly boyz. ?Two packs of assault marines




Each led by an Eagle claw. ?Aka a Chaplain.

Once I have finished painting them I will do some decent close up so you can see the conversions.

Next the Devies


No command here, but four razorbacks add some serious Freeeemmmm!

Finally the tanks
firstly the preds


and finally the Land raiders, stuck up on some paint pots

What BA emblems?

The silvery thing on the front is an imperial eagle that is part of the model.  Though it could be converted to a winged blood drop.  Thanks for the idea.

I've been spending today highlighting all the scab red with red gore. ?I think it worked. ?I can't really tell which red is which ?:confuse: .

I'm hoping to get a stand of assault boyz and chosenmen completed tonight to show off some finished products.

Moscovian - I don't use any mag lenses. ?I just work buy one of these desk lamps. ?Don't believe it when it says it is only 11 watts. ?It is brighter than the sun, but it has a nice bluish tinge rather than the organge of most bulbs

Well the first three stands are almost done.  I just have to paint the green flock shadow grey and highlight it with spacewolf grey.

First stand are some assault marines with a vet sgt.  He has a powerfist because I lost his chainsword when I was tryiong to reposition it and I had some green stuff spare.  6mm covers a host of sins.  :D  

Next up my first stand of chosen men, and thier plasma gun.


quite an easy conversion of a bolt gun.

finally a chosen men stand with the Aquila standard.  They are not a character stand (as they are not on a round base), but I thought that the formation designed to be first over the wall should have a standard to plant to show everyone that they made it, and the aquila is easier that their chapter symbol of a diving eagle over a blood drop.  :D
