Looking good. Care to give us a little run down on what colours you used?

Question to Salamander players, or indeed anyone unlucky enough to have played them. I have four Landraider Helios, their not currently in my list due to their cost and me being sure how to use them, can you give me some advice? Their not whirlwinds so I don't want to sit them back. Their not standard landraiders with full crew carrying capacity. How do you use yours?

My custom made Landraider bases arrived today from Fenris Games. Their 40x25x1.8mm ply, which means there the same thickness as my round infantry bases and fit in with them really well, behind pill shaped. They are pictured here glued to some of my Landraiders. I've almost finished painting some Rhinos, should have some pics of them by tomorrow.

I turns out that I didn't have as much to do to finish these Rhinos and completed them tonight. The blog is updated and here are a few taster pics.

Love them. As I said, the extreme highlights work really well. They are immediately recognizable as Salamanders. Just great. I sure do wish I could pull of extreme highlights so well.

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying working on these. I will be pulling together a painting guide for my blog over the next week or so. I also plan to order my infantry by the weekend.

Thanks guys, I have to admit that there is no freehand on these minis, unless you count the battle damage. The salamander and devastator icons are decals which I made (digital freehand). As for having gazillions of armies, sadly not, I've dabbled in several. I plan on building up my Tau, Imperial Guard (we are still calling em that right?), Orks and these Salamanders. I like to have some variety in my painting, to take away the mundanity of army painting. :)

I also have some Salamanders waiting to be painted. As already said, the highlights work very well on that scale, great work!
How did you make the decals? I also have some, but they are from other chapters and printed black/coloured. For white decals you need professional printers which isn't affordable. Did you use a printing service for yours?

Hi Fibser, thanks for your comments.

The decals are by no means professional. Printable decal paper comes in clear and white, I used the white. For the Salamander head decal I got a pic offline, then using Photshop I cleaned it up and sharpened the image. I inserted it into a word document and got the sizes right. This involves printing on regular paper a sheet of various sized decals. Then I copy/paste enough decals of various sizes I need. Took up about two lines (too much and Word can't handle it). After a final test print, I print onto the white decal paper, (what your actually printing is the black background around the Salamanders' head). Once done, I dry it with a hair dryer, cut the printed paper from the sheet and give it a coat of clear car spray varnish. Once dry these are ready to use. The other orange squad decals decals, there a little more tricky and I spent a lot more time in Photoshop creating these.
