I chopped the handles from the wicked blades... et voila! I've given the beast the horn! And an attitude change!

At this stage i tried to finish painting the Oreosaurus before I start adding more things. I decided that there were some areas that looked jagged; I'm assuming this was just meant to be horny old skin but I thought it would be fun to paint this with Ushbati Bone, as if the creatures' bones were so mutated that they protrude through the skin.

I then started to apply wash and spilled half a tub of Athonian Camoshade across the table. Waste not want not, so I got a large brush and litterally doused the creatures in the stuff. I wouldn't have chosen to do it like this - I would have applied it more liberally - but I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

I also added another horn. One huge horn was not lethal enough. The second horn was a part I cut off of a goblin shield. More about that later as well...

I was going to but the way the mini toy is designed, the creature wouldn't be able to close its mouth. I'm nearly done with the creature and have begun painting the crew. Update shortly!

Update: Most of the structure is now complete.

Most of this is Goblin Shields for WFB.

Still to do:

Apply Nuln Oil wash to the metal armour sheets.
Paint crew.
Add more razor wire for Wrangler to steer left and right.

Should have mentioned - I used the modelling clay again to make the "collar". The spikes on the side of the creature's head gave me the idea. I painted them silver and then used the clay to form the rest of the collar. The front platform will have an Ogryn which I'll be painting as an Ork. He'll have reigns of razor wire which will help him steer left and right, while the lever in front of him will active the cog and pull the Orkeosaurus' head back to get it to stop. The cog is an arrow flight from the quiver, the lever is the wicked blade hilt that I chopped up earlier on.

OOh nice bits use, those are looking good. What about putting a bit of modelling clay on to close to mouth up a bit at the very back? they are very 'smiley' at present due to how they stuck the top head part on.

Probably a wise idea! I'll do that and try to figure out if I can somehow give them tusks as maddoctor suggested.

Bissler, you've done a great job of turning some terrible lizard toys into decent Orkeosaurus (orkeosauri?!) mate, kudos!

Will you be basing them?

Cheers
Reedar

Thanks chaps, this will be a bit of a collectors item as I don't intend doing any other kind of projects like this ever! I only resorted to this because of the prohibitive cost of buying Orkeosauri on eBay. I've only ever seen them go for in excess of £40 so figured it was better to cobble something together for a few quid than spend £120+ (I was determined that I wanted 3, pure greed, I know!).

Yep, I will be basing them but not really in the usual understanding of the term "basing" on this forum! My bases consist of painting the base goblin green. In this case I may have to build a mound to balance one of the models but only if I absolutely have to!

Hopefully I'll get this finished tomorrow and will post the final pics. Thanks for not tearing me to shreds, I know it is far from perfect!

Wow they look good for a purchase from a pound store! Its amazing what a little conversion and a lick of paint will do!

I like it very cool !
all though I'm surprised you did not use the "Epic 40k" ork turrets, in stead of the much smaller "Space Marine" ork turrets. ;D any way good conversions !
