The latest Gorgonzolas are 6/28 scale.

or his Gorgonzolas being noticably too big

Wasn't that fixed? Or is the fixed standard size still a bit bigger than FWs size? Not bothered if it should still be a little bigger than the FW standard scale as it should make filling it up with 50 epic infantry easier to convert  :))

I think his final Gorgonzola size was still ~10% bigger than an imaginary Forgeworld-made model?

Hmmm i already have bought some FW Basilisks for the enclosures...but to have whole metal models is so tempting....

I'm not sure I understand ... the difference ?

Definitely a difference with the two models on the right, mostly in the thinner diameter of the barrel, which tapers more, but also a different design on the circular piece that connects the cannon and the bit above it. Is the one on the left an Otter version or a GW one? (I only have the FW ones so far).

It's not that major a difference, but I'm enough of a perfectionist I'm tempted to standardise them across my army, even if it means buying extras to convert others. Not sure which I'd use and which I'd get rid of though.

Yes, I know, those are mine ... I built & painted them.  The fully enclosed superstructure is from a mammal in Texas ... :vD   But  don't see the difference with CGI/CAD pic that O-man posted & the pic of my model ?

I also don't mind adding just the enclosure (since it obviously fits well enough), but this may ultimately be up to you to decide, Mr. Otterman: how much of an perfectionist and artiste are you?    They look great to me, but you need to be happy with what you put out, too. What does your gut tell you?

My memory tells me that I used a 40K plastic basilisk barrel as my model. Resolving whether I gave it the 4:1, 4.67:1 or 5:1 treatment will have to wait until I get the model and my calipers.

What does your gut tell you?

It tells me that it looks too short, but that it cannot resolve WHY it looks too short, compared to the original chimera chassis.

Is the cut in the hull placed further back, so that the enclosure itself sits a few mm further back, leading to a back-heavy look?

I wasn't comparing the model on the left of the photo to the CGI/CAD version of it, but just commenting the barrel looks a little different from those on the FW models on the right.

Moved forward, definitely too cramped.

Heh it's so cute!  :))

The cabine is to big. Look at the tracks. The FW-models cabine covers half the tracks width. Ottermans cabine covers the whole track width.

I guess this is why it looks so back-heavy.

I can see it now, Mr. Otterman. The front of the chassis is too short (or just shorter than the original) on your version. As a result, the enclosure sits too far to the front.

It looks like a really small dog: well-proportioned but just a bit too small.

Through the magic of merge and paste, I added another bogey at a strategic location.

Conceivably, I could make another one. This will make a whole lot of wheels, leading to an interesting millipede effect.
