By jove you’e right – that’s ludicrous! I have a shedload of the old square bases so will buy some Warbands and then sell them on with those instead I think, should get the price down a bit.

Glyn ... I was going to post the pic you requested ... BUT, my Lap Top is with the Best Buy Geek Squad, getting an over priced upgrade ... :sigh:  I should have it back in a day or 2.  But if someone doesn't post a pic by then ... I'll do it ... :D

I think I did the math once and if you buy an Ork infantry box you get more bases than if you were to buy the bases individually.

Buy a couple of Ork boxes and sell the infantry off.  :)

OK. This now gets my 'laughed so hard' award!

I just did the maths:

Buying the bases seperately at £5.85 for 16 results in 37p each.
Buying the Ork Warband set at £11.75 for 44 results in 27p each.... and a load of free Orks!

Any other company, and this would shock me. When it is GW, it just makes me laugh!  :vD

And while I do like the rectangular bases quite a lot I've seen Orks mounted on 5p or nickles and they have a nice disorganized "mob" look about them.

Something to think about anyway.

Hi all thanks for the replies,

I've actually decided to go with the make my own idea (as much as the lazy side of me recoiled in horror).

Turns out with a sheet of 1.5 mm and 0.5 plasticard and the right (well as it turns out probably wrong) drill bit making bases is a doddle

I think the drill bit i used was a wood one (spike and then the main thread starts about 5mm further down) and I was using this in my power drill. I had to drill a guide with the smallest bit I had to put the spike through first and then could switch to the biger drill. The wood drill bit worked so well because it never actually gripped into the card, instead the start of the main thread just scored into the card and pretty much melted it's way through from the friction (a normal piece bites right in and I couldn't hold the base still because of the torque).

Net result for a couple of hours work I've got 20 bases of skitari with another fifteen to do.

Hopefully I can get some pics of my now rapidly growing army up soon.

laters
