I MIGHT consider using a black undercoat if I'm painting a model that will be less than 50% yellow and then ONLY if those yellow parts are large well defined areas. For example I might go for a black undercoat if I was to paint up one of the current Warlord titans with a yellow carapace. In that case I'd go for one of the foundation paints for the basecoat and then add a second coat of yellow before the shades and highlights are applied. This gets much much trickier of you have miniatures with many nooks and crannies, odd shapes or details IMO.
