Actually the Reaver has 7 parts (body, 2 feet, 2 arms, head , carapace weapon)
For the spines you have to cast a separate sprue with the spines....or cut the body in THREE parts whith each part having one row of spines.
If i wherent a total newbie in designing sculps byhand i would do a 9 part model:
- Body - front leg pair (they look as if the could made as one part, you have to model a slot in the underbelly to fit the legs in) - left aft leg - right aft leg - head with mandibles (or only the mandibles and the head is part of the body) - two sprues with 3 spines each (to be glued on separately or all 3 spines on a "slice" of the body which could be glued in the apropiate slot in the body) - left bio cannon - right bio cannon

Doing the front legs as a pair is practially impossible casting wise, it'd have to be done front back and would likely fail.

This is because the legs where ranged inone straight line (if looked from top). For the new mould they have to be arranged in a whide L.
Or just cast them separate...which requires a 10th mould.

Being as the back legs would require casting twice no matter what was done with the front legs, I made a single 'legs' mold with one back and one front leg, and cast that mold twice.
Do the legs need replacing too?

OK, so, sculpt new body, sculpt new head with mandibles.
I'll start on it in a few weeks...
