Option 1. Like DS, I like seeing the bogies.

Is this critter in sections, or are parts stuck together? Specifically, is the turret still separate? The forward gun?

I decided to go with option number 1.
Here's a size comparison next to a regular CI.

Rear ramp is prety much done. Just need to find a piece of cable tie in my bitz box to add a few ladders. Once the front relief is done I think that pretty much finishes the model off.

The model is technically a single piece since I recnverted it from an old model I had made. The turet is seperate though. The sensorium dome, radar dish and small turrets are only glued lightly in place so the are easily removed to make casting easier. I am also going to add some filler beneath the trackguards to ensure no silicone can pour in there and make casting trickier. I am not sure, but I think the easiest way to make the mould line through the centre along the length of the vehicle since the front and back end don't have any deep undercuts.

It is still going to be one heavy lump of resin though :p

Thanks for the comparison pic, Warmaster.  I thought it was a lot bigger than the CI, but I see it's not that much bigger.

Thanks for the info.

And I have cast larger, so that's not a concern.

On a big boxy number like this you could pack out most of the volume with a polystyrene foam block.  I'd assume a 2 part mold top/bottom with a bottom pour.  The block will float until it hits the top mold so you'd need a big pour hole and a stick to hold the block down until all the resin had been poured.  It'd work just as well with a vertically split mold too I guess.

Great work on the CI, I wouldn't mind the weight less change of it being knocked off the table.

If it went into production I would order 1 or 2 for myself.

CI is prety much done now. There's still a few minor things that needs adjusting, but this is pretty much what the finished model will look like. I'd like to add some rivets, but since my normal method for that is using blobs of paint, I'm not really sure they'd survive the mould-making process and get stuck in the mould instead of on the model... :p

Speaking of: Perhaps one should set up a poll for this: After all shipping this thing halfway across the globe and troubleing an Otter for what might turn out to be a tricky cast, might be a bit excessive if only one or two people are really interested in getting a copy.

(edit: As per forum rules the creation and possible reproduction of anything that resemble GW IP is not allowed. I have tehrefore removed the images of the WIP model for now.)

If you're asking people might be interested in a copy, count me in!

Hm. Well, with the cancelled Hawaii trip I do have some money freed for purchasing more silicon and resin. And postage from the land of the Danes.

The following people have idly expressed interest:
Dwarf Supreme
Tiny Tim
Justiniel
Moscovian
Onyx
Mark Logue
Myself

Warmaster Niceness, do you have an estimated shipping cost and weight? What are the approximate dimensions?

I'd pay for one as well.
