Denaturated alcohol, as pure as you can get it.
92% is less than $3 a liter here, and it's fantastic stuff.

Removes mold release and paint from anything, plastic, resin and metal; just don't leave resin in there more than half an hour; plastic no more than two, or they can become soft and pliable for a day or two.

I also used Cillit but had the same result with the brandless, cheapest products too.

Ultra-de-greaser or something if I translate.

Now I have tried the cheapest Tesco degreaser refill bottle. The effect was amazing. The metal Warmaster figures that were soaking in nail polish remover for a week without much effect started to loose paint in about 30 minutes. After the weekend the paint just came off perfectly. The same is with plastic epic knights. Glue also unbonded.

Will definitely use this one the next time.

Can you point me in the direction of this product please (a link or a pic) ?? :)

*EDIT*
Also, what's the difference between Regular & Crystal Simple Green (both are "All Purpose" liquids) ?? :-\

In Hungary it looks like this:

Without the spay top - refill bottle - it is even cheaper

Tesco product. Next time I get one, I can check the exact contents.

For UK folk, fairy power spray gets my vote, works a treat, doesn't require any special treatment (hello detol, let's not mix you with any water whatsoever.. and nitromors, let's not accidentally turn the hot water tap on and sweet jesus my face is melting off) and has so far worked a treat on metals and plastics. Haven't had reason to try it out on resin just yet though so the jury's out on that one.

Looks like a clean sweep (no pun intended) for Super Clean. Plastic is both mostly primer free and undamaged.

I can confirm power spray works on FW resin with no negative effects. I crossed my fingers and stripped 3 OOP FW stormblades for a few hours at a time. It cut through humbrol matt varnish, several layers of paint and halfords black car primer (although in some places needed a second going over to remove all the black). All i used was a toothbrush and warm water to remove the paint after soaking.

I think is mostly just circumstance/speculation on my part but the superglue I'd used seemed weaker after the soaking. I was actually able to pop out all 3 main guns from their quite secure fittings with relatively little effort, this could easily be me using rubbish glue or something similar but it was a nice surprise.

Another option for weakening superglue is popping your models in the freezer for a while, it'll weaken the bond - BUT.. and this is a big but, when you take it out of the freezer, let your models to get back to room temperature first before you try to rip it all apart. The cold will have weakened the superglue's bond even when it gets back up to room temperature and I know of one guy who destroyed a perfectly healthy rhino that had been superglued together just by trying to wrench it apart as soon as it came out of the freezer.

Only thing I've tried that trick on previously was a heatsink from a CPU (worked a treat!) but I'm assured it does the job for superglue too :)

When using Simple Green:

Do you use just straight concerted or do you water it down like your going to clean stuff?

Just in case anybody else :wah didn't know ..

White Spirits "melt" plastic figures. Or at the very least make them extremely soft & squidgy so that even the merest amount of pressure will turn them to goo. :( *OK I guess if you are looking to model some hideously deformed, dead infantry crushed underfoot by stomping Titans.

I've stripped literally hundreds of miniatures in alcohol (ethanol), plastic and metal, no mishaps so far (o:

I have a lidded glass of it on my painting table; every time I get a pack, they get dunked from the blister right in to take off the mold release.

Couple of questions, for plastics are you using it neat? How long are you submerging models for?

A.

just use it straight from the bottle. I find 24- 48 hours is long enough for most paint.
Simple green is amazing.

Yep put the model in an old tupperware pot and give it several good blasts with the power spray, so that there's usually some swilling around in the base. Then seal and leave for an hour or two although ive left models for days with no ill affects. Curiouly ive found that sometimes no matter how long you soak, some stuff wont come off first time so that you need to rinse and brush before repeating but usually that does the trick.

Good luck
