Thanks Zombo and for all the incuragement from everyone so far...

Ok, I realise I'm being very bitty putting things on frequently like this but hopefully it's not off putting. I haven't painted the Wraith yet but I sorted the arm and claw so it's now waiting for enough completed models to be ready for a black sprey undercoat.

It's a day off today so plenty of time to get some Epic stuff done.

In keeping with my Obelisks I have jury rigged from some cast off plastic from an old infantry sprue a very cheep and easy to make Pylon... It'll do until I get one that looks cool.

I've painted the Wraith too. He got a little manky after I left him in a box of IG infantry by accident.

*Sigh* I can't put off the Monolith any longer. I imagined the 25x25mm stand would have been a good base to start with but I'm now beginning to think it's a bit small. It's not finished yet but you can see the general idea. I believe I can attach some side vanes and I have a crystal for on top but the hood is giving me some cause for concern.

Surprisingly the card though thin is actually quite firm and I haven't needed any interior blocks for support or gluing tabs inside. It's a bit sore on the fingers and my fingertips are glued together but still I think it's taking the correct shape.

I tried a similar 25mm > 20mm pyramid, and I found the issue wasn't that the 25mm was too small, but that the 20mm was too big.

First, I must apologise to Erik.M for allowing this project to take up my attention and time in favour of a joint project we had been pursuing lately. I hope you can understand and that I have not caused too much needless annoyance or anxiety due to this. This is by way of an explanation (not excuse) as I have a wondering attention span sometimes and have no discipline when a mood or enthusiasm takes me. Sorry.

I have managed to go a little further with the Monolith and I find I am quite happy so far. It isn't exactly symmetrical by any means which will make any additional Monolith making a royal pain. However I do think the 25x25mm to the 20x20mm is ok. I wondered the same as you Zombo but on looking at the 40K model I thought it was fairly similar, without going to the trouble of buying one, measuring and downscaling.

Still to do. Side vanes (hopefully), the two remaining corners and the crystal and housing on top plus the crystals hood. A base with a short stand to show it floating and then paint the sodding thing. Hopefully better than the Pylon which is a mess.

Thanks braxat2000,

I have total respect for anyone who works in card, measuring, cutting/gluing etc. Eyal, have you ever fancied maybe doing a Necron Monolith? ...so I don't have to.

No worries mr Hamster.

And I think we all anticipate your various builds with much joy around this board.

Hi,
Necron monolith hmmm?
Can be fun, though it will have to wait for my next builds to be over.
After I finish the great gargant, I plan to build a capitol imperialis, and after that a gargant or krawla.
But after these two it's possible :).. just depends on what other things will caught my mind.
Eyal.

Not much progress but you should begin to get what I'm trying to do. I hope to attach at least three vanes to each side. I have only blue tacked the crystal and housing on top for scale. The Rear Crystal hood is still giving me problems. Any suggestions?

The ol' eyes are giving me trouble too so I think I'll turn in and give 'em a rest. However, I am beginning to get a taste for modelling clay (milliput) and may give the green stuff a try. How is it used? I see it is a skin irritant... are we talking itchy, reddening or worse if no gloves? Recommended or is this a no, no?

I haven't been using anything on my fingers with greenstuff - hell, I've been licking it. (smooths it out)

I think you will be safe. It handles a bit like bluetack that goes hard in 30min.

Rear crystal hood? confuzzled.
